Hi,
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a thread exactly like this.
I have cable internet and router provided by the cable company. It is on the main floor. The DHCP server is enabled and works properly.
I have a wired connection to a Linksys WRT54G in the basement. The Linksys is in "access point" mode, with no DHCP server enabled.
My PS3 and various Windows-based laptops can connect to the wireless network served by Linksys, and get connected via DHCP from the cable router.
None of my Apple devices can do this - Macbook Pro or iPhone 3GS.
The Apple devices can connect to the Linksys wireless network, but DHCP fails -> they always end up with a locally assigned address.
Interestingly, I cannot even give my Macbook a static IP and have it work?!?! Maybe I am doing it wrong.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks!
James
