Apple today introduced new wireless over-ear headphones called AirPods Max, and it has since shared the first ad for the headphones on its YouTube channel. The 90-second video is titled "Journey into Sound" and shows someone wearing AirPods Max in space.

"Introducing AirPods Max," says Apple. "Computational audio. Adaptive EQ. Active Noise Cancellation. Transparency mode. Spatial audio."

Apple goes into more detail about the AirPods Max in a separate video narrated by company executives Evans Hankey, VP of Industrial Design, and Gary Geaves, VP of Acoustics. The video is set to the song "Empty Dancefloor" by Soulwax.

"High-fidelity audio," says Apple. "Active Noise Cancellation with Transparency mode. Spatial audio for theater-like sound that surrounds you. Stunning design with an exceptional fit. All with the effortless magic of AirPods."

cool ad - seemed detached from reality at first - but that window really brought it to life :)
Ha, much better than car ads that are 100% detached from reality. 100% of the time the ad has nothing to do with the car. You don't even know it's a car ad until the brand name appears at the end.

That sounded pretty good with even my old round wired ear buds (can't wear the funny-shaped ones).
You'll notice they were not walking around with them. They are only made for use while laying down or when you are in space. Too heavy otherwise. :)

When you're accessorie's price is touching the price of your computers... somethings just not right in your pricing structure.

Definitely going to just stick with my Bose QC 35's. Had them for years and still working and sounding great!!

$549 is too steep, if I was going to spend $549 I would get a better pair of high fidelity headphones! Just my opinion!
I want some HiFi headphones. Which ones do you recommend?

This gave me 80s vibes.

If you're looking for wireless, I have been really enjoying my Sony WH-1000XM3s. They've released the XM4s now, but it's one of those products that are so good that Sony decided not to over-do the improvements because why fix what isn't broke? My XM3s have terrific audio quality, they feel great, they have a longer battery than any of the airpods (including the new ones), the ANC works well. I've traveled all over the world with these and have loved them. They don't have apple's fancy pairing mechanism, but putting them into bluetooth pairing mode is super easy and the XM4s have multiple-device pairing.

Ad sounds great.... on my Sony MX3's :)

Interested to see some reviews from the audiophile sites but for me if I can't plug an audio cable in it's not even an option, wireless is great for listening to music but unusable to edit on Premiere.
