Apple promotion with authorized retailer?

About a few weeks ago I bought my Macbook Pro from an authorized retailer (B&H) and only now realized that the time I bought it from B&H I would've been able to go buy it from the apple store with the educational discount and receive Beats Headphones. Is it possible for me to bring a receipt to the Apple Store and because I had bought it under the current promotion, receive the headphones? Or do promotions only work within Apple Store&Apple Online store and not associate with authorized retailer like Best Buy or B&H
