That's just great. I use Runmeter and have for the last 2 1/2 years. I e-mailed the dev just this AM asking about iOS 8, and they wrote back and said that the latest version was in Apple's hands, with full Healthkit support.

I'm past the point of no return in upgrading my 5S, so the last gen version had better work or I'm going to be pissed. I'll be stuck using another app to track my runs and manually entering them when this cluster is resolved.

As far as what is going on with Apple? We all know the answer to that question.

I managed to download the myfitnesspal update before it was pulled.

I'm not sure I will update my 4S to iOS 8 though. I might just wait for my iPhone 6 to arrive.

Off topic, but dude, don't do that to yourself. Even if it wasn't a 4S, I wouldn't risk blowing the phone up, having to do a full iCloud restore, and then doing one AGAIN when your 6 arrives.

You can keep the 4S on 7.x and the backup will restore just fine on your 6.

I also downloaded the MyFitnessPal update and activated HealthKit functionality. It all appears to work just fine for me. I logged my weight this morning and I see it show up in HealthKit.
