Apple has raised prices for its entire AirPods lineup in India by as much as 10% for certain models as a result of new import duties imposed by the government which went into effect at the start of this month.

The new import duties mean that headphones and earphones will have a 15% to 20% duty upon import into India, but Apple's AirPods are seemingly being subject to a less severe duty of around 5% and 10% only. The third-generation AirPods now cost ₹20,500 ($272) compared to before at ₹18,500 ($245). AirPods Pro are now priced ₹26,300 ($349), compared to ₹24,900 ($330) and AirPods Max now cost ₹66,100 ($890). The second-generation AirPods also now 5% more expensive.

No other products, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs, have had their prices adjusted in India.

So it is greedy for Apple to raise prices, but it is not greedy for people to want to save their own money and pay less?

Everyone wants to pay less or charge more, depending on tip whether they are selling or buying and the market price is where those meet. If one is greedy, so is the other.

Has there been any tariffs change or did Apple expected some component or assembly in India but didn't work out.
This.

Third world countries tend to have insane import tariffs. Any changes in these tariffs will reflect on prices.

Import tariffs are a handy way to collect money in the short run, but the damage they cause in the long run is huge. High tariffs hinder economic growth very effectively.

In which case, if you can buy your AirPods Max for $500 in your country, is actually a great deal.
Can’t buy anything with any dollars anywhere in Europe.

Ahh, and here is someone who thinks saying anything positive about a company is someone who is somehow defending them, whatever that means particularly. In reality it’s just as simple as if you want to buy something, you pay for it. Perhaps you think that a 3t company should just give you stuff? To much WiiD I think.

"Mysteriously"... It's called capitalism Susan...

Conceivably the wordsmith of the piece was freshly exposed to a storehouse of words.

A rise of ₹1 each would be mysterious. Rises of APM and drops for the regular AP would be mysterious. Rises across the board, less so. A better choice in this case might have been "unexpectedly" or "surprisingly".

Sweden? Switzerland? Ireland? Finland?

I'm guessing you mean third world in the traditional sense.

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't see the post before where you talking about prices.

Serbia... not EU and not very rich... and I didn't get my APMs here (Apple reseller iStyle price is around $900)

Prices for products in other countries for American goods often adjust for inflation as well as exchange rates. For example, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’s prices went up in Canada mid-cycle at around February, because Canada’s currency exchange rate fell rapidly against the U.S. dollar, making iPhones significantly cheaper to buy in Canada than the US by almost $150 each for a short time until the price bump.

Apple is sitting on cash reserves of around $200 billion. Most people aren't. No, it isn't "greed" for consumers to want to spend less money. Of course it isn't.
Apple also creates a lot of jobs across a lot of markets around the world. Consumers have a choice to buy from who they want to. Apple has a business model that targets profits that are 35% at a minimum and develops products that allow them to do that and keep their target customers happy. If consumers don’t want to pay Apple’s price, that’s ok. They have always put luxury products on the market, but became mass market because general consumers see enough value in what they offer to find the cash to buy that luxury product. Competitors attempting to compete on quality come in more expensive, but get no complaints from Apple’s critics. Apple’s competitors that go cheap have far more quality issues, but people still expect Apple to play in that space.
