Hey Guys,

Can someone please tell me more on this. I am gonna be in Europe for some days on a Vacation, Planning to pick up a rMBP from Germany to be precise. If anyone here especially from Germany who can answer this. Perhaps it is the same policy in all countries, where Apple operates directly its stores from.

If I have Purchased a rMBP(Base Version 15 Inch) by paying in all cash, lets say in this case 1999 Euros. But for some reason I dont wanna keep it and wanna return it in the 14 day return policy that Apple has in all these countries. Will they pay me again back in cash ? or how ?

I was reading on Apple Germany website that in case of items purchased in all cash, Anything which is above the price of 650 Euros Apple will only refund the amount via a Bank Transfer within 10 days in the Person's Account ! is this correct ? Can someone please verify and confirm this ?

Thanks

In Germany you can return everything you bought online within 14 days and you'll get a complete refund.
I'm not absolutely sure how this works with Apple and their retail stores. I just checked the website and it does not exactly say this also counts for retail buys. By law there are no "return rights" for any product you purchased in a retail store here in Germany.

Are you sure you know what you are talking about and you have checked the information correct that you are talking about the Apple Germany Website ??

As I already said: In Germany there are no rights by law to return products which have been bought offline. If Apple provides this opportunity then they do it on an optional basis.

Your link does also not exactly state that it is about "offline purchases".

Edit - Ok, since your link actually says "in case of cash payment" it has to be also for offline purchases. And yes, it says "anything above 650 EUR will be refunded via bank".

The Policy remains same for online purchase or in-Store Purchase. How does it differ ? I would think so !

The point is that in Germany, you have a right to return when you purchase something not in person, e.g. online or via phone. This is universal and for everything ( contracts, items etc )

Apple, on the other hands, provides additionally a return period for in-store purchases.

In mentions several times that you'll get a refund when you take your item (incl. receipt) back.

If you're not happy with your purchase, you can return it to Apple. You'll get a full refund. As @hharzer explained.

I know that I am not worried about will I get a refund or not ? All I want to know is, If I Pay all cash while buying and when I wanna return it, Apple policy says any product with a price above 650€ Apple will refund via a Bank Transfer into person's account within 10 days ! That is a problem for me ! How do I find out what is the fact ? I will not be in Germany for all those days to follow up with them. So don't wanna take that risk if I pay them all cash and they do a Bank Transfer. I mean WTF ??

You already found out that this is fact: http://www.apple.com/legal/sales-support/sales-policies/retail_de.html.
What is your question?

(I would never buy at :apple: directly in germany. Read up on electronic stores (mediamarkt or saturn), they sell :apple: products for much cheaper. A few weeks ago they sold the maxed out 15" rmbp for 1850€ inc. tax!! No return policy though.)

It says in the quote in hharzers post, that refunds above 650€ will be made via bank transfer. This sounds like a reasonable policy, and is quite common. I've come across much lower limits too.

Stores usually carry as little cash as possible for safety reasons, and try to avoid handling large amounts of cash.

OK now there is dubious information coming out from store and the website, Just spoke to a store guy in Berlin says if you want cash we can pay you all in cash aswell.

That link which I myself posted does not talk about whether it is applicable for online purchase or in-store purchase ? Should be the same for both.

But can also be different for both !!

It's probably possible to arrange a cash refund if you call the store in advance, but if you just walk in without notice, you most likely will not get 2000€ in cash.
