Am I seeing what I think I'm seeing... or is my computer just messed up?

I went to the UK online refurb store and it was empty!!!!!

I was about to buy a refurb MB as well :(

Macworld possibly bringing something good? or am I just being stupid?

EDIT: Possibly a computer failure as its a new year?

The US refurb section is full, so maybe it's just not working for you. Try it again?

they'll probably fix it in the next day or two.... Bank Holiday in Ireland so it probably won't be fixed until tomorrow

Or maybe the brits receive specially hand made Macs that don't break down and hence are not returned?

There used to be some talk that some Macs are made in Ireland you know

All tube class " A" point to point hand wired, highly sought after by collectors
even though they're a bit on the heavy side :D

Nope, empty again.

I've been watching the Apple store nearly daily since before Christmas. I have already told my mother that I ordered her a Mac Mini (I can't stand supporting that f'n XP box anymore).

I've been looking in both the US EDU and US Developer stores (and occassionally US Retail). They all have the same inventory but I can't comment on US v. forign stores.

The stock has been changing daily. There were loads of Minis and iMacs then they were all gone right after Christmas except for a few previous gen Minis. I didn't just pull the trigger because My wallet says Mini, but I'd rather get her an iMac.. and her vision is starting to decline so then it's an argument between 17" and 20" and a bigger internal argument about price. :-(

Bottom line, Apple had loads of hardware in the refurb area, then it cleared, then it was nearly full again, now it's sold out once more. They're back to only basic models. I'm hoping to get something nice enough that it's a solid machine and it wouldn't hurt if it was fast enough that I could borrow it for an occasional LAN party. :)

Maybe tomorrow.

ffakr.

I buy all my hardware reburbished. I noticed that stock levels and offerings change quite often. Unfortunately I hate waiting for the things I want to show up in the reburb store.

I myself am starting to see the wisdom in buying all hardware refurbished, they are such good value for money :p

Now I've just got to walk the walk and try to resist the temptation when the iMacs/Mac Minis/Macbook Pros get updated this coming MWSF.

Maybe it's a sign ;). Don't buy until after MWSF, if they release new Macbooks (which I don't think will happen- but it's only 6 days away), the one you were going to buy will be even cheaper.

In the UK refurb store they are only selling the Core Duo MBs that weren't sold, but they lowered the price by £70 (about $130) the other day though
