Apple today reintroduced the MagSafe battery specifically for the iPhone Air, featuring an all-new, low-profile design.

The new battery provides the iPhone Air with up to 40 hours of video playback with the pack attached, adding up to 65% additional charge. With the battery attached, the iPhone Air apparently has better battery life than any other iPhone.

Apple says that to maximize battery life, the combined system will choose the best times to recharge the iPhone, or if you need a quick boost, just snap it on for up to 12W of fast wireless charging on the go.

For even faster charging of the iPhone Air, Apple says you can attach the MagSafe Battery and connect it to a 20W or higher power adapter at the same time.

The new MagSafe Battery is priced at $99. It is only compatible with the iPhone Air.

Regardless of the battery performance, people are going to be spouting out how they made it to thin to have a good battery so you have to slap a thick battery on the back to make up for it.
Selling a battery back doesn't mean Apple is saying you're going to need this every day.

They can also sell this just saying that IF you need it one time where you expect to use it more than usually, all day long, and won't be able to charge, here's what we offer. That's it.

Apple also sells AirPods for the iPhone, doesn't mean you HAVE to buy them.

I get why this iPhone exists, I find it super appealing, I just dislike the display size.

I wonder if this battery will work well for the normal iPhone 17? I would think so, but I guess we will see.

Hopefully I won’t really need it, but good to have options.

Honestly, based on how bad my experience was with Apple’s first attempt at a MagSafe battery, this is going to be a pass for me.

I tried two different Apple MagSafe batteries—both of which struggled to recharge my iPhone mini consistently, so I ended up getting a $20 Anker that works so much better.

Not worth replacing my emergency age age battery just for the usb c connector. Trying to get away from lightning. But I still have backup 12 pro and AirPod pros using lightning

Based on updated info sounds like not a worry. Not compatible with other phones.

Still use my lightning battery pack. Mrs bought one for herself not so long back but prices for new ones have climbed given their discontinuation by Apple. The new ones will
Be most welcome, assuming it backwards compatible with previous MagSafe iPhones.

Most normies don't need to use this except when traveling. The influencers can have their thin phone to show off and when they're traveling they can pop a battery on it. Kinda funny but won't be used very often for most people.

The iPhone Air MagSafe Battery was created exclusively for iPhone Air. Designed to slip into your pocket, it feels great in your hand and adds up to 65 per cent additional charge to iPhone Air — extending battery life further than the battery life of any other iPhone.¹

Looks like for Air only.

iPhone Models
iPhone Air

I guess it only works with the Air?

This is very disappointing and a huge miss… the only leg up the original battery back had over 3rd party competitors was iOS integration, and then when the 15s came out two years ago, they discontinued the product altogether. They had the opportunity to improve upon the critiques of the first generation while adding USB-C and making it compatible not just with all of this year’s iPhones, but backwards compatible with older models as well, but decided they’d tell 15 and 16 owners to pound sand…

Apple.com lists compatibility as iPhone Air only.

Probably because the Air is wider, and this battery looked like it takes the full width to get maximum capacity.
