Following yesterday's release of iOS 14.3, Apple today released new 14.3 software for the HomePod. The update comes a little over a month after the release of the 14.2 update that brought support for new Siri and Intercom features.

The HomePod 14.3 is available for the HomePod and the HomePod mini, and according to Apple's release notes, the update includes general performance and stability improvements.

‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌ software is installed automatically on the ‌‌‌‌HomePod unless the feature is disabled‌‌‌‌, but the ‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌ can also be manually updated by following the instructions in our ‌‌HomePod‌‌ update how to.

Really hoping they’ve added Default Speaker capabilities on the Apple TV. Currently only the bigger HomePod allows the feature, and so users have to select the HomePod mini as the output speaker every time you turn on the Apple TV
I hear you. I get the idea of differentiation of the products, but this is just a stupid hill to die on if they don't add it.

It appears to fix the bug where you play sounds (like rain sounds) and when you ask Siri to stop she’d say “There’s nothing playing” and keep playing rain sounds.

EDIT: Nope. It worked once and it’s back to buggy.

Could be my imagination but handoff now feels like U1 is being used. When my phone gets close to the HPM it vibrates and hands off. Before I had to tap the HPM with my phone and by tap I mean bang it against it to wake it up.
Totally unscientific but I wonder if they enabled this better handoff.
I think you're right. I have a HPM sitting on my desk next to my phone. Since the update my podcast keeps handing off from my AirPods to the HPM with almost no interaction. Never did that before...

I am downloading 14.3 to my mini now. I was frustrated because before I was also banging my phone on the speaker to handoff. Seemed weird and glad to see someone else was experiencing this. Hope 14.3 fixes this for me.

I got notification of the update, said downloading, then for the 1st time in an update- it never said completed. I never saw the homePods restart like usual updates. Also, they have taken the software version out of the home app update HomePod screen !! I can't tell if it updated?? Only says "all accessories up tp date".

Spotify won’t be supporting HomePod anytime soon, if ever. They’d rather inconvenience their customers so as not to weaken their various lawsuits.
You would think they would want to be on HomePod to better compete with Apple.
