Apple today released the first beta of an upcoming visionOS 1.3 update to developers, allowing them to test new features ahead of the software seeing a public launch. The visionOS 1.3 beta comes a week after the release of visionOS 1.2.

The visionOS beta can be downloaded by going to the Settings app on the device and toggling on developer betas. A registered developer account is required, and Apple recommends making a backup before installing new software.

Apple may make further improvements to Personas, EyeSight, and other features with visionOS 1.2, as well as implement additional bug fixes. We'll update this article when we discover what's new in the software.

I’m considering going to 2.0. Just the lack of ability to revert is my only concern.

Anyone else dealing with lots of crashes in VisionOS? I upgraded to the beta and it's a little better, but mine crashes all the time, especially Safari and now even the files app.

Since version 1.2, my Photos app locks up a lot while I'm viewing Spatial photos/videos and requires a force quit. Everything else seems to be OK.

I haven’t experienced anything crucial. Only little glitches here and there, but as the days go by some have disappeared. Could the problem be related to malicious code on a website you are visiting? Or a faulty plugin?

Does anyone else keep forgetting that this is already publicly available? It seems like the Vision Pro has possibly flopped harder than the HomePod.
It's flopped so much that it will never get an international release. [see Elon and his awful bin lorry as another example]

Flop or not, take away half the thickness and half the price and you have a hit. A hit like iPad, useful for a while but without huge software advancements pretty unnecessary if you already have a computer for real work.

If they made this thing play Call of Duty or some other hit game or open it up to Xbox cloud, they would sell the snot out of these with game controller support.

All the feedback I've read has stated that the 2.0 beta is much better than 1.2 release version, and that Apple should release it asap. I haven't been able to try it yet for myself. But I will skip the 1.3 beta and go directly to the 2.0 beta.

I installed the visionOS 2.0 beta last week and it’s been smooth sailing for me. I wouldn’t want to go back now that I’ve got my Home Screen setup just the way I want it with some iPad apps previously stuck in the Compatible Apps area moved out of there and on the Home Screen right where I want them.

Having the ability to turn any photo into a spatial photo is pretty cool as well!!! It’ll be sweet if they figure out a way to do something similar with 2D videos I shot before spatial video was an option I had and started using after I bought the AVP and decided to keep it. It’ll never be the same just like the previously 2D photos aren’t the same as actual spatial photos but it’s the next best thing!

There’s other stuff that’s nice about the v2.0 beta as well but that’s for a different thread. The bottom line is that if you’re going to install a beta I don’t see the point in installing this one unless there’s a show stopper I’m not aware of.

I don’t have one close by, it would be the dev strap. Plus, I don’t trust the idiot bar.
I've reverted using the Developer Strap and it was very straightforward. Wasn't excited about the price tag, but it's good to have since I like to play with Betas. Only felt the need to use once so far.
