Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming one day after the launch of iOS 16.1.

Registered developers can download the iOS 16‌.2 and iPadOS 16.2 profiles from the Apple Developer Center, and once installed, the beta will be available over the air.

We don't yet know what's included in the betas, but there are a few features that have not yet been implemented. Apple is working on Game Center improvements, including SharePlay integration, and there is an upcoming Freeform app that Apple plans to debut later in the year.

When we learn what's new in the iOS 16.2 beta, we'll update this article.

Release Notes mention both FreeForm app and external monitor support. So I would guess external monitor support has returned in beta but how do you download the Freeform app, it's not generally available yet...

Not seeing profile on dev portal?
All 16.x betas use the same profile. So if you haven't removed it, the download should work.
I did check my Dev account and noticed there are no profiles to download. Not sure why they would release the new beta and not have the profile available for it.

odd one here, my iPhone 14 pro max battery meter isn't updating. I charge if for 20 min and it stays same, reboot phone and it jumps up to 95%

I'm starting to wonder if they fixed anything in the 16.1 update, all the bugs that I was experiencing are still there, it looks like they just added a few new features but didn't fix the previous bugs.

Freeform

Known Issues

  • Can’t delete boards while offline, or if iCloud data is disabled for Freeform. (100294085)
Workaround: Go to Settings (System Setting on macOS) > Apple ID > iCloud, then in the Apps using iCloud section, toggle Freeform to On.
  • Adding or removing collaborators can fail while attempting to change share settings. (101186059)
Workaround: Close the share sheet and try to add or remove the participants again.

Stage Manager

Known Issues

  • While using Stage Manager with an External Display, dragging a second window to the workspace incorrectly hides the Recent Apps list—shifting all windows in the workspace to the right. (98540114)

SwiftUI

Resolved Issues

  • Fixed: Animated layout changes now support up to a 120hz refresh rate on ProMotion displays. (83563866)

TV App

Known issues

  • Play tracking (Up Next, and Top Shelf Update) won’t work for all platforms. (101258095)
