Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming visionOS 2.4 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming almost a month after the launch of visionOS 2.3.

visionOS 2.4 can be installed by going to the Software Update section of the Settings app on the Vision Pro and opting into Beta Updates. A developer account is required.

visionOS 2.4 will be one of the most significant visionOS updates to date, because it brings Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro for the first time. Apple started rolling out Apple Intelligence features on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac last year, but the Vision Pro was not included until now.
"Apple Vision Pro is helping users communicate, collaborate, and experience entertainment in entirely new ways -- and we're continuing to push the boundaries of what's possible in spatial computing with visionOS 2.4," said Mike Rockwell, Apple's vice president of the Vision Products Group. "With Apple Intelligence, Vision Pro users will be able to take their productivity and creativity to new heights using features like Writing Tools, Image Playground, and Genmoji. And we're excited for users to discover and share incredible new experiences with Spatial Gallery."
Apple Intelligence features that are accessible on the Vision Pro include Writing Tools for generating, proofreading, and summarizing text, Genmoji for creating custom emoji characters, an Image Playground app for generating images, Memory Movie for creating custom slideshows, smart reply for generating quick responses to texts and emails, Priority Notifications and Notification Summaries, ChatGPT Siri integration and new Siri features, and Image Wand for adding images to the Notes app, complete with gesture support.

Apple is debuting a dedicated Spatial Gallery app for the Vision Pro, which includes a curated selection of spatial videos, spatial photos, and panorama images from artists, filmmakers, and photographers. Apple plans to offer a range of content featuring sports, culture, arts, lifestyle, nature, travel, entertainment, and more. Content at launch includes images and experiences from Cirque du Soleil, Red Bull, Porsche, Samba Diop, and Jonpaul Douglass, along with behind the scenes content from Apple TV+ shows.

For Vision Pro management, there is a new Vision Pro app that's available on the iPhone. The Vision Pro app is designed to help Vision Pro users discover new content, and it has a number of features. Users can get Vision Pro support and feature help, download apps to the Vision Pro, add content to a watch list, and get device info like serial number. The app will automatically download for iOS 18.4 users who have a Vision Pro headset, but it can also be downloaded from the App Store.

The Vision Pro app has a discover page that provides curated recommendations for new and noteworthy experiences. Users can see popular apps and games, including Apple Immersive titles.

Most notably, an iPhone can now be used to set up the Guest Mode on the Vision Pro, which is a much more useful way to let people demo the headset than having to set it up on the Vision Pro itself. When a guest is ready to use the Vision Pro, a prompt will appear on the iPhone, and the Vision Pro user can select what the guest can access and see what the guest is doing using AirPlay to provide navigation guidance and content suggestions.

Guests are able to save their eye and hand setup for up to 30 days after their last use.

Apple plans to release visionOS 2.4 to the public in April.

Awesome. Glad apple intelligence is coming to the platform. Excited about the spatial gallery. The stuff on Apple TV has been incredible. The Weekend spatial video was surpassingly good.
Not to be that guy, but… I assume you meant “The Weeknd”, as in the musical project.

This is great news, and these are substantive enhancements to the visionOS and the Vision Pro experience. The enhanced guest mode with AirPlay mirroring to an iPhone will be very helpful to many, as will the enhanced discoverability of VP-relevant spatial and immersive content.

It’s great to see a genuine continued commitment to this new platform. I know the first year of this has been rocky, but it’s nice to see Mike Rockwell and co. still serious about spatial computing and not giving up on this (very expensive) project of theirs.

Excited to see if there’s anything substantial announced at WWDC for VisionOS 3, especially since it might be the last major update before a higher-spec M5 model is unveiled. First-gen Apple products have never received updates for too many years, even expensive ones.

All these are great, but PLEASE tell me they added the ability to create a folder and put something in it. I have tons of programs and need to have folders to organize them. I have 10 pages at least right now.

I’m honestly so sick of constantly seeing and hearing “with Apple Intelligence” in anything to do with Apple. It’s a bloated, mostly useless feature right now and they are touting it as life changing. I know it isn’t going anywhere but my God they are really trying to milk this as some type of life altering feature set.

I installed it. But there's no spatial app, no image playgrounds or iPhone app anywhere to be found. Just Apple Intelligence.

Just installed the visionOS 2.4 and iOS 18.4 Betas to try out the new apps.

Shocked to see that NONE of it is available here in Germany! 😱

Why does Apple always have to region-lock everything? I mean, even the Companion app for iPhone and the Spatial Gallery app… really? 😭

It’s not available in the U.S. yet either. One Redditor said Image Playground just installed for him.

They are slowly rolling out.

Vision Pro is the next big thing. Trust me.

I'm confident that the form factor, as it generally is now, is not the next big thing

VisionOS, however, has enormous potential

What is needed here, among many things, is a far more compelling, socially acceptable and less cumbersome form factor.

It's not at all clear to me how close we are to that or not, as it's really difficult to parse through what's hype vs reality in so much of tech these days.

The guest mode via iPhone app is absolute clutch. This completely fixes the process of sharing with others, which was a huge pain in the aine. All of these seem like features Apple wanted to announce for OS 2, but weren't sure they would be able to serve up in time. But now that we're getting them, it leaves more surprises for OS 3, around the corner.

The wide/ultrawide monitor has been huge (no pun intended) for me for work. I am really loving my Vision Pro and using it more frequently than I ever expected I would.

Agree with both. Particularly the Guest Mode. Now we have an opportunity to guide guests - finally.

And the monitor from the Mac is absolutely great. When I first switched it on, I was really smashed away - I use to use 24 inch monitors only. The Beamer I tried once was smashing as well, but not usable. THIS is usable 100%. Now I have LogicPro open and all the Plugin-Windows visible around me instead of stack them...

No one uses Apple intelligence on the iPhone so I doubt no one would use it on Vision Pro. Also guest mode should let you control the Vision Pro so if someone doesn’t know how to use it you can control it for them

That’s more an EU thing than an Apple thing. They require things other regions don’t, so additional steps are required to be taken before releasing products/services to the region.

Nothing new in the UK. Image playground is available to download, but cannot be used with the language set to UK English. No Apple Intelligence features in Mail etc…

On a sidenote, everything seems much more Snappy. App loading, scrolling, website loaded instantly. Seems like a much more stable experience!

Correction* unless you change the language to US English. Apple Intelligence is now downloading, will try it out.

Absolutely everything loads in an instant… Fantastic update for this alone!

Seriously, who writes and sends an email from a headset? 😂 It’s about 10x quicker from any other Apple device
Me. Almost daily. I use it when I am mirroring a Mac, I have Mail open in visionOS off to the left of the screen for dictating email responses. I also do when I’m using it for general admin and using it as a standalone device, I find it far quicker than typing it out.

You seem to be looking at it from the point of view of getting the headset, putting it on, replying to an email and taking it back off? I can’t speak for others, but this isn’t a use case for the AVP for me, I would use my iPhone or iPad.

I’m assuming you don’t have one / haven’t tried one?
