Apple today released the fourth beta of an upcoming visionOS 1.3 update to developers, allowing them to test new features ahead of the software seeing a public launch. The fourth visionOS 1.3 beta comes a week after the release of the third beta.

The visionOS beta can be downloaded by going to the Settings app on the device and toggling on developer betas. A registered developer account is required, and Apple recommends making a backup before installing new software.

Apple may make further improvements to Personas, EyeSight, and other features with visionOS 1.3, as well as implement additional bug fixes. No new features were found in the first three visionOS 1.3 betas.

While rendering realism is a standard in image making, I think the Vision Pro is well suited to aim for alternate realism. For instance, it could render Neo-Cubism. By definition, Cubism is rendering an object from every conceivable angle, and re-arranging those drawings into one pictorial whole. The Vision Pro can certainly do this, but it can do it better than Cubism. It can shoot image stills of the user's face, and re-arrange those stills into a constantly changing pictorial whole. If Cubism is inert, Neo-Cubism portrays constantly changing facial planes, with light, color, and everything the camera lens can possibly see.

If this is unclear, recall the film A Scanner Darkly. The facial cloaks depicted Neo-Cubism. I would like to see the Personas do this too. This would be a start.

I recently tried Vision Pro at an Apple Store. I am guessing they don't use VisionOS 2 for store demos.

Vision Pro is spectacular. I definitely will be getting one.

Can VisionOS 2 place the virtual keyboard on the table if I am sitting at a table? A keyboard button press would coincide with touching the table surface.

Right - the demos are using v1 of the OS. Yes, v2 is a lot better.

No, it doesn't support putting the virtual keyboard on a desk. The angle would make it a bit weird. Instead, if you want a desk-based keyboard, you use an actual Apple keyboard paired to the headset, and it visually "punches through" your optional virtual environment and sits on your real table. And very nice it is too.

The Vision goggles can see my hands, it could most likely see my fingers typing on a keyboard placed on the table. The "angle" would be like a keyboard on the table in-front of me. I look down and it's there.

The point is Vision Pro will also be a great mobile device and I don't want to carry around a keyboard and mouse. Use surfaces around me...horizontal, vertical, curved...Simply put on the goggles and everything I need appears.

On 2.0 using a Magic Keyboard, you will be able to see the whole keyboard even when immersed.
Hopefully other keyboards will be supported. I have a foldable keyboard, and would love to be able to see it while immersed.

That Virtual keyboard has gotten much better in 2.0. you could either "type" on it in the air, or type by looking at the key and snapping your fingers. Or use an Apple Magic Keyboard, which you could see even then immersed into an Environment.
Please l et us know after you get it, and share you experiences with us.

You mention 3 options, keyboard in the air, use eyes and pinch fingers, and use physical Magic keyboard. The only option missing is to place the virtual keyboard on a hard surface like a table.

After the demo I can say I would really like to start using Vision Pro. Some developers are not making apps for it but if Apple can make the key apps to make it an excellent productivity and entertainment device then it's alright if developers are slow to jump on board.

Now if the User Interface actually was 3 Dimensional

And not 2 Dimensional Screens plastered on a pseudo 3D environment

that would be a reason to get excited

Depends on the app. The best I’ve tried so far is Djay, the 3D interface works great and it is SO much fun. Eg

On the other hand a 3D mail program would probably be rubbish. Not everything needs 3D. 2D apps are easier to stack around you too.

Is the “punch through” feature for Magic Keyboard working for you on the beta yet? It’s not for me and I can’t see a setting I’m missing.

Does eye tracking and pinch gestures work on apps that are being mirrored to the avp from a Mac or can you only use the Bluetooth keyboard to control the mirrored apps?

I’ve been redoing it twice a day since the last update. I had this issue with the 1.1.1 update a few months back as well
Do you have a vision problem with one of your eyes being differently aligned than the other eye?
If yes, you should be able to set up Eye tracking to only read one eye.

I do not. this is a software issue. it happened with 1.1.2 and was completely gone by the next version. the first 6 weeks I owned the device I had no issues whatsoever and only aligned once

I have been using it without any eye tracking issues for a very long time. Are you on the 2.0 Beta?
