Apple today released iLife Support 9.0.4 via Software Update, bringing stability improvements and compatibility with Apple's new Aperture 3 release.
Provides system software resources that are shared by iLife and other applications. This update improves overall stability for the Media Browser and iPhoto slideshows. It also provides compatibility between Aperture 3 and the Media Browser.

The update is recommended for all users of iLife '09, iWork '09, and Aperture.
While the update can currently be found in Software Update through users' computers, it has yet to appear on Apple's Support Downloads page.

I was just prompted to download and install this, and it did, but I have iLife 08.

A whole flurry of software updates, meaning that the new MBPs ARE around the corner...this is just in line with the company's previous patterns...GO APPLE!

Not really. It means they released a new software (Aperture 3 in this case) and are releasing compatibility updates for it.

Not in software update

I ran Software Update and I only got prompted to download Aperture Slideshow update, nothing about iLife update. What is going on?

Seems that this Update is not necessary if you installed Aperture 3,
as it is showing up on Macs without Aperture 3 installed.

Update doesn't appear on Apple's site

I was going to download the update manually. However, it doesn't appear to be on Apples site (newest iLife Support that can be found on their site is 9.0.3). It does come up in my Software update. I like to save the updates, oh well, I'm sure it'll be up later.

I don't know if you know this, but you CAN save updates downloaded from Software Update. Under one of the menus on top, there's an option that says something along the lines of "Update and keep package".

As for the update, haven't had too many problems. Only thing I've had going wrong is that Quicktime X doesn't want to open movies any more.

FYI, when I tried to use my iPhoto Library (roughly 16,000+ Photos) with Aperture 3, Aperture would just crash out as it was importing.

This update fixed that.

I am not talking about exact connection between a release and an update...I am talking about Apple's pattern of releasing a bunch of software updates at the same time as hardware releases...just get back to me later this week or the next.

I also have iLife -08 and i too got the update... i believe this update is to address basic areas that need it. I do believe that all the apps in iLife use the Media browser

Careful with this update. I too got it (while I have iLife '08) and was working in Xcode while it installed. As soon as it finished, Xcode started behaving really weird (the auto-complete function seemed to crash). Restarting Xcode didn't help. In the end, I had to reboot my MBP. I didn't lose any work.

Also, can't say Safari is snappier now...

Yeah, I thought that was an option, but I'm not seeing it. Anyone know where that option is at? I'll google it when I get the chance I guess. Thanks.
