Apple today released iOS 18.3.1 and iPadOS 18.3.1, minor updates for the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 operating systems that came out last September. iOS 18.3.1 comes two weeks after Apple released iOS 18.3.

The new software can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Apple has also released iPadOS 17.7.5 for those still running iPadOS 17.

According to Apple's release notes, iOS 18.3.1 includes bug fixes and security updates.

iOS 18.3.1 will be followed by iOS 18.4, an update that we are expecting to see released in April. The first iOS 18.4 beta is could come as soon as this week.

What happened to rapid security response updates?
From what I recall the two times that they actually tried it publicly, it did not go well.
The extended build numbers that added on after the security patch was installed caused issues for some websites and back-up tools. Plus, they still require to restart anyway.
They probably just decided that there wasn’t enough advantages to keep dealing with them given that that was a long time ago now.

Only see
Impact: A physical attack may disable USB Restricted Mode on a locked device. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.

Description: An authorization issue was addressed with improved state management.

CVE-2025-24200: Bill Marczak of The Citizen Lab at The University of Toronto’s Munk School

There have been so many bugs in the Recents tab in the Phone app for over a year that still haven't been solved. I wonder if they ever use the Phone app at Apple.
Theres also a bug in messages app thats been there since 18.2 thats still not fixed. The bug is where when u manually delete texts out of recently deleted folder its supposed to delete from the server end too. BUT it isn't Its suppose to take up to 4 days to delete from the server end but its not doing this. I doubt they will fix this. Ive reported it on the feedback page many times. Also theres a bug with iphone storage that was an issue in 17.5 but not for me. Its gotten better but not perfect. Then theres the icloud storage bug thats been there since ios 18.0.0 where my icloud storage doubles for no reason. Ive reported it many times on the feedback page too and still not fixed. Prob wont be fixed until a yr or so.

Is EVERY update going to enable Apple Intelligence now? I don't want it, I don't need it, I want it OFF and staying OFF.

I swear I was hoping Apple would be better about this, but they want to shove it down our throats just like Microsoft and Google.
YUP automatically. If your phone supports it.

I feel iPhone 15 has the potential to be the most demanded iPhone - with USB C, but without Apple Intelligence support 😃
My phone doesnt have ai features and ios 18 destroyed the icloud storage. They still havent fixed it I just keep reporting it on the feedback page
