Apple today released iTunes 12.4.3, a minor update that fixes a bug that could cause playlist changes made on iPhones or iPads to not appear in iTunes. Following the update, syncing should function as intended, with playlist changes showing up across all devices.
This update resolves an issue where playlist changes made on other devices may not appear in iTunes.
The new 12.4.3 update can be downloaded through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store.

Today's iTunes update comes two weeks after an iTunes 12.4.2 update that fixed an issue causing playback issues when listening to Apple Music tracks shorter than 60 seconds.

I wonder if this fixed the issue that caused nearly all my song ratings to go away randomly while using iCloud Music Library?

It really irritated me because I LIKED the convenience of iCloud Music Library and had to give it up because it corrupted my song ratings. I had to restore from backup to get them back, and couldn't use it anymore because every time I'd turn it on, it'd delete the song ratings again.

There's a rumour going around that iCloud Music is a steaming pile of meta data destroying turd.

I think Apple be best to kill iTunes in its current form. What is needed is each functionality separated out into a few dedicated apps; music, movies, apps, books, podcasts. All separate apps on the dock, all with a store, all presented in a consistent style, but importantly separate apps, not tabs or drop downs in one large program.

As for managing, syncing and backing up devices, this should happen in the background when on wifi or plugged in automatically showing up on the dock. A lot of the device management experience needs to be automated further.

iTunes is currently a one stop shop for everything, but it's just too feature packed to find anything especially if you're a new user. Too many things have been grafted onto iTunes over the years and it has no clear focus.

it shows as iTunes 12.5 for me unless I have something different.

This could be a part of Sierra only at the moment and I probably jsut didn't pay attention until now. Completely possible scenario.

I HATE when I purchase a song on my iPhone then later sync my iTunes on my MacBook and it creates an exact duplicate (i.e. EDM and adds EDM1) to both my MacBook and iPhone...and sometimes the purchased songs don't even show up...so frustrating.

On another note: Prior to updating to iOS 10 beta, I had photos from my photos folder on my MacBook synced to my iPhone so I could use them for wallpapers (that way they weren't in my camera roll nor Photos in the cloud). Well, I added a few photos to that folder yesterday and went to sync my iPhone, and the photos folder showed 9 photos, but the folder disappeared from my phone when I synced them. I went back to the folder on iTunes and opened it, had the photos but they were faded out (like you can't click on items when they are faded out). I am wondering if this is something Apple glazed over in beta testing. Also to note, when I had iOS 9 I did have the photos folder selected to sync. Since the update of iOS 10 and even the iTunes most recent update, it wasn't checked anymore...all the aforementioned happened after I checked the box.

How about iTunes 12 for Windows XP and newer and Mac OS X equal or newer. If not, staying on iTunes 11

Been fighting with this bug for a couple weeks trying to get playlists to match correctly between iTunes and iPhone. SO glad this has been addressed!

edit: NOPE. Still not syncing correctly. In iTunes a playlist has x songs, when connected to iTunes, Device/iPhone/Playlist - the playlist matches the iTunes library playlist. But after synching and going to the playlist on the iPhone itself, song/s missing.

The only way I've been able to do a work around is to go into the iTunes library and for the songs that wind up missing from the iPhone, uncheck selection (song), sync, check selection (song), sync, and then the song/track actually shows up on the iPhone and in the playlist in question and matches the iTunes playlist.

Any rumors of a completely revamped, fully functional, SIMPLIFIED, quality iTunes release?
I didn't think so.
Well, since simplified appears to mean dumbed-down these days instead of making needed functionality SIMPLE to access, I really hope that rewrite/redesign isn't happening anytime soon.

I use a LOT of iTunes' functionality and seeing how they take away quite useful functionality in other software or axe it and replace it with mediocre successors to then SLOWLY re-introduce features... Emphasis on slowly indeed.

Yeah, rather take your time with the redesign.
If anything, add codecs, styled subtitle-support, language labels for movies and TV shows.
Starting a movie and then selecting audio tracks to see what's in it gets old fast.
Oh I could come up with quite a bit more I'd like to see added in iTunes. but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Then again, still better than taking the iWork/FCP X route.

any body know if they have put back "create mp3 Version' in the left click drop box????
I Had To Revert to iTunes 12.3.3.17 because they removed it in iTunes 12.4.

Yeah, I've been dealing with that too...frustrating. Does yours create multiple playlists of the same playlist?

My iTunes Match playlist orders are still different on macOS and iOS. If I add songs on macOS the songs appear at the bottom of the playlist on iOS. I wish iOS at least had the option to sort songs by title, album, etc., like macOS. Sorting the songs in a playlist manually takes forever.

It was doing that also. Since syncing after the update it didn't, but that was certainly one of the problems. I had deleted those before this update.

Like I said above, the only workaround I could find to get the track to show up, was to Uncheck Selection of the missing track, sync, Check Selection of same said track, then sync again. Has been very frustrating that new purchases put into playlists weren't actually syncing to the iPhone despite it appearing they had in iTunes when looking at the devices playlist within iTunes. Once looking at the playlist on the device itself it was apparent that it was missing and the song counts for the playlist didn't match.

Very strange behavior.

I don't know if it's a glitch or what...but i can't get non-itune songs onto my iphone....

This is just one of those reasons I refuse Apple Music and iCloud Music Library.
People just constantly break something trivial and working to show some sort of "innovation".

And? Did you write a bug report?

That's what's beta testing is for...

I agree... We need to let them know, even if they ignore it, at least it's out there...
The photo sync problem has been around for some time. The original problem was that the "Albums" we created would not stay in the order we put them. No matter how we tried, how we named them, or how we set them up. they would still be skewed all out of order. This still is the problem today. The workaround is a real pain, too. and often it fails. they have never addressed this bug and it's been around ever since they revamped photos.

I have encountered a new problem also. I have an album of family photos that I put in a certain order. With this last update, when I synced, itunes created another album on my device with the same name, just below the original, but with different photos from another album. (there was no folder created on the mac, just appeared on the devices) The only way to correct and remove the "phantom album" was to go to the source folder of the photos, remove the folder "Ipod photo Cache" and then rename the folder that contained the family album. Then, it would sync properly. BUT, when I re-sync, the photos in the family album are all skewed again!. So, each time I sync, I must re-name the folder Prior to syncing, Which puts the photos back in order. But only once. This is especially a real pain because I have several devices and each has it's separate Library. Therefore I must apply this across devices when I sync. As i use the same source folder for my albums. If I Created a different photo album source then I would have to keep re-naming them all, each time. (I originally did this, and boy, what a pain....) I have made many comments to Itunes, and still nothing. Why they messed this up in the first place is a mystery as is why they wont fix it...... I hope my "Fix Method" helps others.....

Your lengthy and complex solution already scares me away from "syncing photos using iTunes". I would not like to even try it once. :(
