Apple today released iWeb 3.0.2, a minor update primarily offering fixes for several issues related to blog and podcast publishing.
This update refines comment and search support for blogs and podcasts published to MobileMe. It also resolves some issues related to publishing sites to MobileMe.
The update weighs in at 177.14 MB and requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later.

Please, may iLife '11 magically appear in the store this or next week!!

Given that iWeb is part of iLife, then the presence of this update suggests that the next major iLife version is still some way away...

I would think just the opposite... don't they usually push out updates to the current iLife suite right before updating to the new version?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

Maybe iWeb won't be updated in iLife '11.

You mean Apple still works on this thing

Its been so long since I heard anything about this software, I thought Apple had given up on it. iWeb and MobileMe are the two redheaded stepchildren of Steve Jobs now that AppleTV is no longer a hobby.

I really want to like iWeb. But I can't figure out what to do with it. The program just isn't flexible enough for my needs. At least if I could import existing HTML files into it for modification, then I could make it work for me. What I'd really love to see is for Apple to take iWeb and turn it into a Flash killer, with an intuitive drag-and-drop rich HTML-5 creation system, including simple animation. That would be awesome.

And yes, the Safari update appeared today. It looks like it might fix that odd freezing problem when scrolling over Flash objects.

EDIT: Nope. Safari still won't scroll through Flash documents. :(

Twice lately I've hadj site freeze solid. Everything but mouse cursor. Is that what it is? Both times I was on a site cluttered with flash ads.

185 MB for an update? Please tell me this is really the whole app being downloaded instead of a diff.

The "minor update" is over 180 MB in size. Apple needs to figure out a more efficient way of distributing updates.

It's not showing up in Software Update for me.

EDIT: Never mind. It was because I put it somewhere other than /Applications. THIS IS A BUG

This doesn't look good for iLife '11 coming soon. Fix problems with old stuff before releasing an update seems counter productive in the sales department. But Stevey knows whats best. *bows to shrine*

When your actions cause a problem, it is the App's fault? Typo?

It's not a bug. It's how Software Update works.
It looks to your apps in your Applications folder. When they're not there, it assumes they are not on your computer.
That way you won't get any updates from Final Cut Pro if it isn't installed at all (or just in another folder, which remains hidden for Software Update).

iWeb same thing.

So, to create a site, the difference between iWeb and Dreamweaver is like the difference between MS Paint and PhotoShop, am I right?

I do wish more apps would go into subfolders within the Applications directory. (Particularly Apple's) that folder gets to be an aweful mess, most other apps I can put in subfolders, but Apple's either won't update if you do that or it will put the updated version in the Applications folder (not the subfolder) and leave the old version still sitting in the subfolder.

I get an error when I try to install this update. I have verified the disk (needed no repairs), repaired permissions. iWeb (in fact, no iLife apps) is not running at the time. I have restarted my computer and tried the Software Update several times. I downloaded and tried the manual install.

The error is:

The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.

Anyone have any ideas?

iWeb

Drag n Drop HTML 5 with an intuitive interface and ability to code as well (HTML,CSS) would be stellar. I'll keep dreaming.
