In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year on January 22, Apple has released limited-edition second-generation AirPods Pro with a Year of the Rabbit engraving through its online store and retail stores in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

2023 will be the Year of the Rabbit on the Chinese calendar. The limited-edition AirPods Pro have a specially-designed rabbit engraving on the wireless charging case, with a larger version of the graphic printed in red on the box they come in, but they are otherwise the same as regular AirPods Pro and pricing is unchanged.

Apple has made a Chinese New Year gift guide available and is offering customers up to ¥1,000 off select products purchased between December 30 and January 2, including the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, second-generation AirPods, and third-generation AirPods. Apple has also started selling OtterBox's limited-edition Chinese New Year case for iPhone 14 models.

Between January 6 and February 7, Apple's retail stores in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore will be offering free Today at Apple sessions where customers can use an iPhone to create a New Year portrait that they can share with family and friends.

Apple previously offered limited-edition first-generation AirPods Pro for the Year of the Ox in 2021 and the Year of the Tiger in 2022. Apple says this year's limited-edition AirPods Pro are available while supplies last and limited to two pairs per customer.

The second-generation AirPods Pro were first released in September and feature up to 2x more active noise cancellation, longer battery life, and more.

I wish Apple would discount products outright for Black Friday like they do for the Chinese New Year, as opposed to just giving a gift card.
Even if Apple did offer a discount instead of a gift card, you will still find better deals from other retailers (i.e. Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Micro Center, Adorama, etc)... particularly from Amazon when you take advantage of their holiday $200 gift card offer and 5% cash back as I noted here.

I agree with that. But if you want a custom configuration, you have to buy from Apple.

Here's something I learned the other day: Target sells Apple gift cards. If you have a Target redcard, you can buy as many Apple gift cards as you want for 5% off. So if there's a custom MacBook you want to buy that costs $3000, you can buy $3000 in gift cards and save $150.

Were custom-ordered Macs even eligible for Apple's Black Friday gift card offer? I thought they weren't. If that's the case then Apple wouldn't have offered any discounts on them in any case.

Personally, I'd rather pay with a credit card that gives me an extra year warranty and additional buy protections (e.g. accidental damage) vs saving 5%. The extra year of warranty and extra protections are worth at least $150 less the 1.5% cash back from credit card.

Such a cute design...now if the case or even the icon were in red coloring, that would be an instant buy.

Love the design of the bunny 🐰. Can Apple do something like this for the consumers in North America 🇺🇸?

Don’t really feel like booking a ✈️ flight to China to cop the limited-edition AirPods Pro.
Totally fly into Taiwan, Taipei is an amazing city and the apple store at the taipei 101 is worth it. Well and the din tai fang for the best dumplings lol

Next year is year of the dragon I almost want to wait for that one. The article doesn't say but I'm these are the 2nd gen airpods pro not first gen ones. Also a little sad these aren't for sale in South Korea since they also have a lunar new year Seollal (설날) and they just opened the fourth store in Jamsil(Seoul) in September.

Everyone needs to have a collection of 12 AirPods Pro’s. If you missed 2021 and 2022, that’s ok, you can wait till 2034 to complete your collection.

When I heard "limited edition" in connection with AirPods, I thought it is a bad idea, as you lose them very easily and if they are limited, it will be hard to replace them. It seems though that the limited design only affects the case.
