Apple today released a new update for tvOS 11, the operating system designed to run on the fourth and fifth-generation Apple TVs. tvOS 11.2.1 comes a little over one week after the release of the tvOS 11.2 update.

tvOS 11.2.1 can be downloaded over the air through the Settings app on the Apple TV by going to System --> Software Update. Apple TV owners who have automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded to the tvOS 11.2.1 automatically.

As a minor 11.x.x update tvOS 11.2.1 focuses on performance improvements and bug fixes to address issues that were discovered following the release of tvOS 11.2. The update, released alongside iOS 11.2.1, likely re-enables remote access for shared users of the Home app.

Apple disabled remote access for shared users when implementing a server-side fix for a major HomeKit vulnerability last week. Apple at the time said remote access would be re-enabled this week through software updates.

Following today's tvOS 11.2.1 update, the HomeKit vulnerability is fully patched and remote access for shared users has been reinstated.

Fixed homekit, but broke prime for me.

Playback of HDR titles from prime won't start on my 4K SDR setup - was working yesterday.

Playback of HDR from prime works just fine on the 4K HDR set up the basement, but no longer on my main setup. Disappointing - I hope this is just a temporary amazon prime app issue.

Has this fixed the lip sync issues in 24p when using "match frame rate"? I see others reporting that skipped frames occur but haven't yet confirmed whether the audio sync issues in iTunes movies is resolved.

Did this update get pulled? I have restarted both of my Apple TV's (4th Gen) and they claim to be up to date... running 11.2 (15K106).

I have updated my wife's phone and the Appltv 4k to 11.2.1 and on her phone still says the hub is not connected and she cannot remotely control any of the apple homekit accessories. When I go into her apple homekit Home Settings the AppleTV says it is disconnected on her phone. How do I enable the Home Hubs on her device?

this update seems to have fixed my issue with the ATV not outputting 5.1 Surround.

Did you ever find a fix. I’m having remote issues with my guests as well.

For me, I had to un-invite and re-invite my home. I also made sure my family's phones were updated first. Almost immediately 2 out of the 4 (my wife and 3 kids) were able to be re-invited. Then, over the course of a week, I was able to get everyone back. I would check and recheck for the other 2. Eventually everyone was recognized as having an iCloud ID and could be invited.

So in a nutshell, make sure every device is completely up-to-date and re-invite. Then, if you still get the iCloud ID error, keep trying. It was clunky at best, but it finally worked for us. I hope this helps you!
