Apple today began selling a new 70W power adapter with a single USB-C port on its online store. Priced at $59, Apple recommends pairing the power adapter with the new 15-inch MacBook Air and various other MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.

From the product listing:
The 70W USB-C Power Adapter offers fast, efficient charging at home, in the office or on the go. It’s compatible with numerous USB-C devices and charging cables. Apple recommends pairing this power adapter with a 13-inch or 15-inch MacBook Air with M2 chip, a 13-inch MacBook Pro (2016 and later) or a 14-inch MacBook Pro. Use it with MacBook Air with M2 chip models to take advantage of fast charging, so you can go from 0 to 50 percent charge in around 30 minutes.
Apple has stopped selling its previous 67W power adapter, although it is still listed as included with the 14-inch MacBook Pro for now.

Honestly, considering the battery life of the MBA, I really don‘t need fast charging. I went with the dual charger instead, so I don’t need to carry one for my iPhone as well.

Yeah I'm good, thanks. This bad boy from Anker already does 65w at a third the size and 15 bucks less.
Give them time and they'll have a 70w model in the same form factor.
Apple accessories are a joke and honestly they should just give it up at this point.

Still doesn't look like it is GaN. Why bother updating the 67W while not going the GaN route? They were down on it with the 140W and the 35W dual port, I thought they would have wanted to switch the entire catalog to GaN ASAP.

I generally stick with Apple’s power adapter and the 35W dual-port power adapter is my daily driver. Why not making a higher wattage dual-port adapter this time around?
Increase size to the30w, add additional usb-c, up the wattage to 45. Profit.
A 70w could potentially have 3 ports, 70w or 55w/15w or 45w/15w/10w so i could charge laptop, phone and watch while traveling.

You would think apple would start making its chargers a bit more compact by now lol

I guess they’re taking that whole “wait until the technology is mature” approach to the extreme with GaN chargers. Maybe next year. And for more money per unit.

It’s likely that the non-GaN chargers have become less expensive and so Apple has found a margin to mine for a bit longer.

Made the same call to help with some cable management as well. I have so many things that need to get plugged in at this point lol, I appreciated the extra port on the charger

Paging Anker for a reasonably sized charger...
I think the Anker we have is 65W, and it's smaller. Wish they would all be closer to the wall like the dual one with the 15A because they it wouldn't fall out so easily. Or why can't they just put the grounding prong on to hold it in better?

Based on the size of competing adapters, they could shrink it a lot more. They could make much greater use of GAN inside, rather than just on a couple of components.
