Apple today released a new beta firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, with the software available for both the Lightning and USB-C versions of the AirPods Pro. The firmware has a build number of 7B5013d, up from 7B5013c, and as it is a beta, it is only available for developers at the current time.

It is not clear what's included in the firmware update at this time, but Apple is planning to introduce hearing aid and hearing test functionality for the AirPods Pro 2 sometime this year.

While the current firmware is limited to developers right now, it will be released for all AirPods Pro 2 users in the future.

and make safari seem snappier

But for real, ANC has seemed to suck as of lately when I'm in my noisy gym. I don't know which build it started to go south on me because it seems like they've released so many.
Do you have it turned on?

I’ve noticed ANC and ambient filtering have both upped their games.

My mom used to complain about hearing chewing sounds, wind, cars passing by and the noise of the drivetrain on the bus (even Mercedes busses have gear train whine). A recent update has fixed all those things. Like day and night, seem like new devices.

All this cancellation and filtering at essential is AirPods are goi g to succeed as hearing aids and it appears they have cleared these bars.

I like to tell mom that my 250$ AirPods adjust 67,000x/s (67k Hz) whereas her 5,000$ hearing aid only does it at 700x/s (0.7k Hz).

Looking v much forward to this functionality making my APP2 into legit hearing aids as I can benefit from it (also, I never found Conversion Boost to be useful).

I hope the release that makes it to the general public will stop all those weird electronic chirps that happens when the pods are put back in the case or the case is put on wireless charging. And this is not the "Enable beep" feature that makes the case go beep/ding when it's first charging. It's those small electronic-y sounds that is very faint. They are annoying.

Those are to indicate that the AirPods are recognized by the case and will start charging in said case. Those are also turned off when you disable charging case sounds.

Let's hope this 7B13d firmware stops all the disconnects. Nothing worse than listening to music or just enjoying NC in a busy location to have it turn off. A lot of the times, I will squeeze the APP2 earbud to turn it back on and there is no feedback or reaction...7B13c has been very buggy! Hey Apple Engineers, could you spend a few cycles to make these APP2 connect to your Apple TV a little faster? Good lord, I swear my kid grows a few inches every time I wait for these APP2 to connect to Apple TV!!!

Yes, I've even tried toggling it off and on a few times. And then I've replaced the tips after that didn't work. I can't seem to shake the impression that ANC performance in loud environments is going downhill with every "update"

Hear hear. I’ve also started getting a lot of random disconnects recently (on Vision Pro mostly).

Please let this fix the terrible connectivity in a crowd/the gym since the first APP2 firmware that came out with iOS18. None of the 2-3 updates since have fixed it, and a basic bluetooth set does perfect in the same environment. Very annoying to be futzing with one airpod playing and the other not or the transparency modes being out of sync while trying to gym.

I still struggle to find the difference between adaptive and transparent. Both sound the same to me.
There were so many firmware updates, I think 302 made this behavior appear? Here is what I posted about it in a lengthy thread in September:

So I've already posted my experience with this latest update and one of the confusing points for me was that there's now no discernible difference between Adaptive and Transparency.

But a greater observation is that even Noise Cancellation now switches to Adaptive when the wearer speaks and this I find even more confusing as that was supposed to be the sole role of Adaptive. I also don't understand that Apple has gone this route and not left it up to the individual to lock this in place, after all there is already a dedicated option for this.
I do find that Adaptive (and obviously Noise cancellation now) are more aware of spoken content and impervious if the wearer is coughing, clearing the throat, etc.

I just don't get it!

may be this will fix the having to go into settings every time to set the options of what the functions are

No, that is specifically what I am NOT referring to. I know about that charging case sound. That is NOT what I am referring to when I say chirping electronic sounds. My initial comment even tried to specify that that is not what I am referring to, in an attempt to prevent people from thinking that that is what I'm talking about.

why are they doing so much software updates for some earphones no wonder they keep having issues
It's hard to keep up for sure. I even missed one with this high frequency and I'm usually quite on top of all available firmware updates. I can only guess it's all the new features with iOS18 but definitely ANC and differentiation between adaptive and transparency worked much better for me before the update madness began in September.

There are two types of beeps/chirps. One is the charging case sound, the other is the chirping that you are referring to. BOTH are turned off when you disable charging case sounds. Hoping you would have thoroughly read my initial post.
