Apple today released a firmware update for the Apple Pencil Pro that launched alongside the iPad Pro models earlier this year. The new firmware has a version number of 0.1.40, up from the prior 0.1.33 firmware.

There is no word on what features, fixes, or updates might be included in the new firmware, and Apple does not offer release notes for ‌Apple Pencil‌ software releases. You'll want to attach the Apple Pencil Pro to your iPad to get it to initiate an update.

The Apple Pencil Pro is Apple's newest Apple Pencil, and it adds several new features that were not available in prior models like squeeze gestures, barrel roll, haptic feedback, and Find My integration.

The $129 Apple Pencil Pro is compatible with the M2 iPad Air models and the M4 iPad Pro models.

How can I understand if my Pencil Pro is updated? There are not any version numbers such as 0.1.33 or 0.1.40 in the settings.
Same looking around I can find a number but in general / about but nothing like that either same question?

In April, when the USB-C model firmware was updated - Macrumors suggested that the on-device version number wasn't obviously related.

The new firmware has a version number of 10M6060, up from 10M5164. On device, the updated firmware version number will be 37377.37377.16.0.

I’d like to know where they find these updates. I remember they posted about a firmware update for the MagSafe charger and I couldn’t believe it.

Oh good. I thought I was crazy for a slight moment

[Edit]
Attached to the iPad and left charging for 30 minutes and we have
0128.0186.0543.0053
Wahoo!
now what do I do?

The model code A2051 is for a 2nd gen pencil; the firmware numbers match the update released in 2019.
yes... I understand. Mine is version 2, version 3 is very limited and is heavily criticized. Version three was the target of severe criticism.
