Apple today released ProKit 5.1 for Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5), an update to the framework that provides the controls and user interface for Apple's pro applications.
This ProKit Update fixes issues with user interface software resources that are shared by Apple's professional applications.

The issues addressed include:
- Corrected an issue with improper scrolling behavior.
- Resolved memory leaks for improved performance.
- Addressed layout of interface elements in certain application alert windows.

The update is recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Final Cut Express, Soundtrack, Logic Pro and Logic Express.
The update weighs in at 32.39 MB and requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

Running Snow Leopard here and got a Pro Kit update tonite as well. could it be because i haven't upgraded from FCS2 to FCS(3) yet?

I got the update. Running 10.6.3, Aperture 3.0.1 and FCE 4.whatever.

Wish FCE 5 would hurry up and arrive.

I got the update. Running 10.6.3....

I must say, I'm more interested in 10.6.3 than in this ProKit Update.

The update showed up on my Snow Leopard machine, and the KB article now says "Leopard & Snow Leopard."

Now back to this 10.6.3 news.... . ::grin::

Oops.

Meant 10.6.2

Yep, one of those days...

It doesn't fix the Finder processor usage bug in Aperture 3 but Aperture 3 does seem to take up a bit less memory now (I think).

Basically if you have had the FInder which contains your Aperture library open and you browse or edit in Aperture, it causes extremely high FInder activity until you quit Aperture and fore quit Finder and then re-open Aperture. Closing the finder window does not seem to fix the problem.

It has brought Aperture 3 up from terribly disappointing performance to moderately disappointing performance.

The performance drop from A2 to A3 is pretty embarrassing.

Whatever they did in the ProKit 5.1 update has improved Ap3. I wish they would let us know what got fixed. For me, I notice an immediate performance boost using brushes.

Cannot lof and transfer XDcam files anymore after Prokit 5.1 update

Hello,

I cannot log and transfer/import Sony XDCAM rushes into FCP nor FCE anymore after the Prokit 5.1 Update.
I have tried on three different computers. All have the same issue, and cannot read the same folder directory anymore that has been fine two weeks ago.
Does anyone have a solution or can tell me how to uninstall the update ?
There is not much pro going on anymore about Apple.

Before the ProKit 5.1 update, log and transfer of AVCHD would crash FCP 7.0.1. So for me, that issue was fixed. Sorry to hear about the Sony XDCAM trouble, bigcpoint. I haven't had to work with that format yet.

Pro as in professional, or prohibition or probably....

"Pro" would be not updating your software until you've investigated any possible 3rd party software conflicts.

Oh, you are saying the software is named pro, because of the salaries involved for the developers, but I have to investigate, whether it works for pro users as well. I see, my mistake.
