Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced in March 2016. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview to test features that may be introduced into future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview release 152 includes bug fixes and performance improvements for Web Inspector, CSS, Accessibility, Rendering, JavaScript, and Web API.

The current Safari Technology Preview release is built on the Safari 16 update and it includes support for feature coming in macOS Ventura such as Live Text, Passkeys, Web Extension improvements, and more.

The new build of Safari Technology Preview is compatible with machines running macOS 13 Ventura, unlike prior versions of Safari Technology Preview, but it no longer works with macOS Big Sur.

The Safari Technology Preview update is available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences to anyone who has downloaded the browser. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple's aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download.

I love how they use this to test all but bug fixes. I have no idea how this works (i'm only 14) but if you're going to make an app like this to test new features then actually test new features

The idea behind Safari Tech Preview is to test web features. This is distinctly different from app features. New web features are primarily for developers - web developers specifically. They are rarely if ever user-oriented - at least not until the feature become widely adopted across mainstream websites.

They maintain a list of relevant web features here: https://webkit.org/status/
The latest release notes are here: https://webkit.org/blog/13137/release-notes-for-safari-technology-preview-152/

If you are looking for bug fixes and new features for Safari itself, they are rolled out with OS updates (macOS, iOS, etc) and you can experience those early by joining the Public Beta program for the OSes.

In fairness, Safari Tech Preview would be more accurately named if it were named "WebKit Tech Preview" instead.

There's a developer menu where you can, you guessed it, test new features.

Have they released a decent ad-blocker for Safari yet? After stopping ublock origin, I use Edge on the Mac and see virtually no ads. Watching similar pages rendering in Safari is a completely different world.

I use AdBlock Pro and Wipr (see attachment for configuration), the result, no ads on Youtube or anywhere else. macOS 12.5.1 Safari 15.6.1. Hope this helps.

I want to like Safari but every new version I give it a go and bump up against the intolerable limits of extensions. The entire extension ecosystem is FUBAR and just not worth any of the questionable ‘benefits’ of the browser.

True! Also, I don't know why, but YouTube lags big time on Safari, while it feels snappy on other browsers, including Firefox (so not Chromium-based)

Do you guys get your Tab Groups imported in Safari TP? Original Safair performance been horrible lately so I installed the previous TP but didn't get my Tab Groups and end up switching to other Safari beta (16.0). I wish at least one of these work how it should

Wipr does a fairly decent job with ads, but it's nowhere close to uBlock in regards to cookie popups and other annoyances. It also requires to enable scripts injected into website to block ads on youtube for instance. This is the case for all Safari content blockers. Content blocking api is just not developed enough it seems. If content blocking is important for you then you need to stick with firefox or chromium based browsers for now. Sad thing is that there seems to be no push for improvements on the matter.

Oh, ok. I had no idea

There is some problem with this upgrade. I tried to log on to my Schwab.com account and login failed. I changed my password twice and it still failed to log in. I called Schwab with no help. I switched from the Technology version of Safari to the standard version and everything worked. This has previously happened on other sites. Beware!

Happens for me on Soundcloud and other websites. It doesn't log me in, so it's a bug since version 151.
