Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced almost two years ago in March of 2016. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview to test features that may be introduced into future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview release 49 includes bug fixes and feature improvements for Service Workers, Fetch, Intelligent Tracking Prevention, CSS, Rendering, SVG, JavaScript, Web Inspector, Media, Storage, Security, and Accessibility.

The Safari Technology Preview update is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store to anyone who has downloaded the browser. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple's aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download.

482 out of 555.

I've been having a back-and-forth with the official WebKit Twitter account through PM. We've concluded that HTML5test misreports scores if you're not using the https version of the site, because some of the features require a secure connection.

https://html5test.com reports 482
http://html5test.com reports 467
That’s good to know, thanks for posting that.

Does anyone know if they've fixed the issue with the tabs on touchbar in this update? I've noticed an issue where if you open 25+ tabs on safari, the tabs will jumble ontop of each other on the touchbar.

Apple, basic QA stuff like below, any chance to start checking feedback?

Scrolling on several sites doesn't work properly about 20 versions ago, a popular example:

https://getbootstrap.com/docs/4.0/components/alerts/ - Try switching between scrolling the left sidebar and main content, do it with any other browser and experience proper behavior (yes, we are using magic mouses).

For the love of god please listen to feedback and help us avoid chrome!

Apple has completely lost control of their browser. One cannot get thru' a day's worth of browsing without launching Google Chrome. Safari has become Internet Explorer !

Great Work Apple !

My "Enable Content Blockers" have stopped working in this version... so I have to use external adblock again on hmm

edit: I deleted the browser and cleaned with appcleaner.. and nothing happened.. the Content Blockers didn't fill up.. and I started install all my extensions again etc and whoops after a while Content Blockers list started filling up again.. strange.

e2: Nope.. doesnt work. List fills up but it has no impact.

I can't seem to recreate this problem. All is fine on my MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013. MacOS 10.13.3. Safari Technology Preview 49.

Issue happens on non-retina only and is still present on STP 50.
