Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced nearly two years ago in March of 2016. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview to test features that may be introduced in future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview release 50 includes bug fixes and feature improvements for Service Workers, Web App Manifest, Payment Request, Web API, Rendering, Web Inspector, Web Driver, Accessibility, and Javascript.

The Safari Technology Preview update is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store to anyone who has previously downloaded the browser. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple's aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download.

Edit: https://html5test.com, 482/555, the same as Safari technology preview 49, with all features enabled under Develop > Experimental features; macOS 10.13.3 if that matters. Note that it is important to use the https/TLS non-www URL (as a previous poster indicated for a previous version): I've found that if you go to https://www.html5test.com, browser redirections will take away the https/TLS (and thus you will get a lower score).

Normal Safari 11.0.3 (which comes with macOS 10.13.3) gets 452/555. Firefox Developer Edition 59.0b11 (on the same macOS) gets 473/555. Chromium 66.0.3353.0 gets 528/555, but I don't use Chromium, because of privacy concerns. I don't use Chrome because it is malware. (Ungoogled Chromium's latest build is broken.)

I do appreciate the browser compatibility score, but for those of us who don't keep quite as far up on such things, could I persuade you to edit your post to add "out of (N)" and perhaps the previous version's score and/or "regular" Safari's score, if you know them offhand. Also, are you using html5test.com to test, or something else?

I have noticed that youtube video keeps reseting play back to the start, it plays fine for a while, then the video just restarts from 0:00, not sure why, safari technology preview 50!
SCORE 469/555
