Apple Releases Second iOS 10.3 Public Beta to Public Beta Testers

Apple today seeded the second beta of an upcoming iOS 10.3 update to public beta testers for testing purposes, two weeks after seeding the first beta and one day after providing the second iOS 10.3 beta to developers.

Beta testers who have signed up for Apple's beta testing program will receive the iOS 10.3 beta update over-the-air after installing the proper certificate on their iOS device.

Those who want to be a part of Apple's beta testing program can sign up to participate through the beta testing website, which gives users access to both iOS and macOS Sierra betas. Betas are not stable and include many bugs, so they should be installed on a secondary device.

As a major 10.x update, iOS 10.3 introduces a new "Find My AirPods" option to help users locate a lost AirPod. Located in the "Find My Friends" app, the Find My AirPods feature keeps track of the last known location where AirPods were connected to an iOS device via Bluetooth, and it allows the AirPods to play a sound to make finding them nearby easier.


Along with a Find My AirPods feature, the update also includes a shift to Apple File System (APFS). First introduced in 2016, APFS is optimized for Flash/SSD storage and includes strong encryption and other important features.

Apple recommends all users make an iCloud backup before installing iOS 10.3, as the update will cause the iPhone's file system to switch over to Apple File System.

iOS 10.3 also introduces a tweaked app animation, a new Apple ID profile in the Settings app, a better breakdown on how iCloud storage is being used, SiriKit improvements, new iCloud analytics options, and more.

Hoping this beta stops freezing my Air 2. I've been running Public Betas on my iPad from almost the beginning of the iOS 9.x availability, and for the first time I considered backing out of this one because it ran so bad.
 
I have to say that I have been happier with my 6s performance on 10.3 than I have in a while. On Day 1, it seemed faster, but I wrote that off to placebic effect. Over the past week though... yeah, very nice.
 
Not sure if it's just me, but the haptic feedback seems to be slightly more pronounced than before? I dunno.

They aren't dead and they weren't supposed to be with this release.

A message just comes up saying they 'will not work with future versions of iOS', etc. This is consistent with what was reported before.
 
Hope they fix the bug related to touching the space bar and triggering the Control Panel. Or touching the safari address bar and encountering difficulty trying to paste text.

The error message is the same as beta 1, which is "This app will not work with future versions of iOS. The developer of this app needs to update it to improve compatibility."

iOS has two major updates, major fall update (.0 release) and spring update (typically .2 or .3 that coincides with new iPad model). 10.3 is the major spring update so there's no reason to expect 32-bit support to drop before 11.0.

Update broke BT connectivity to my Logitech headset when using skype.

It was broken ca two beta updates ago then was working great for the last one or two.

I don't get why BT performance keeps falling off the wagon.
 
So far so good. Love how i have more free space.

On the previous beta 3 I did have freeze ups, let's see how this one goes .
 
I think both 10.3 betas werd the best betas sofar. Stable and very smooth/fast on my 128gb 7+.

I've seen a post where IPV4 fallback worked on T-Mobile for one person but not for me.

Public Beta 2 stopped Zwift from working on my iPhone. I try to launch the app, and within a second it just closes. It was working fine on Public Beta 1. Hopefully a fix comes soon.
 
Since I joined the beta my Apple Watch battery drains really fast. I need to charge it midday now too, before the beta I'd end the day with it at 60% from a single charge.
