007, how appropriate for security. Especially seeing we have a new Bond film just around the corner. It's almost uncanny the way these things turn out!

No Problemoooooo

updated an Imac G5 and a G5 tower....also an old PB G4

All is well in Mac Land:D:D

So what exactly does this fix? I clicked the link in software update, but it just seems to be a collection of previous security updates.

Click the release notes link in our article...it lists all the issues addressed.

interesting that this is a page 2 item... i guess the role of page 2 is evolving with the site

Page 2 is not just for rumors...we also routinely use it for minor news. This security update is relatively minor news for most people, especially given what's on the front page today. :)

when I clicked software update , my external HDD started up but didn't mount the desktop , is that normal ?

Installed on my SR MBP and Now my Mac does not boot. I get a black screen. No Dong... Dunno what to do, or how to fix...

Hhm, I guess with the growing importance of the OSX platform this should be a number 1 item. Especially now, when many new people join the parade.

The last thing I would like to see is that people get sloppy applying regular fixes and some of the vulnerabilities become actively exploited.

Install went smooth on iMac.

Installed on MBP15.4 2.4GHz

Installed on SR MBP (Feb 08) 2.4Ghz / 4G mem. Restart went well, but FireFox took a while to start and eventually remained unresponsive without a menu bar.

DropBox client was unresponsive and had to be force-quit'ed.

No problems

No problems here on the original Dual 2ghz G5

Good to see Apple keeping up on this, a little slow on the release for some of these vulnerabilities but still good.

Boot time much longer

No problems here on the original Dual 2ghz G5
.

I have the same computer here at work, and just performed the 2008-007 Security Update. This update seemed to take much longer than any previous update, and at one point, I was afraid that the computer had hung.

I restarted again, and it took a noticeably much longer time to boot. It now takes a full minute from pressing the power button just to get to the white boot screen-- and I know that this is longer than it was before. With no startup scripts other than the defaults running, it takes 3 full minutes from power button to where I can "use" the computer for a complete boot.

Does yours seem to take longer to boot and/or shutdown now?

I'm now afraid to take this update at home on my new Mac Pro... It's hella fast and I don't want that to change.

My white 2.1 Ghz iMac is taking a long time to start up as well, every time. Like several minutes.

When I start my computer now, I have one minute 20 seconds of gray screen, followed by exactly four minutes of blue screen. During the last of the blue screen it sounds like the disk is being accessed every 30 seconds. Then at 5 mins 30 seconds after hitting the start button, my desktop picture appears. Then it takes a minute before it is ready to go.

Safari keeps keeps not responding whenever I try to start it up now :(. Seems consistent too :(. Anyone else have this?
