Apple today released tvOS 18.5, the latest version of the tvOS operating system. tvOS 18.5 comes a little over a month after the launch of tvOS 18.4, and it is available for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models.

tvOS 18.5 can be downloaded using the Settings app on the ‌Apple TV‌. Open up Settings and go to System > Software Update to get the new software. ‌Apple TV‌ owners who have automatic software updates activated will be upgraded to the new version of tvOS automatically.

Apple shares full release notes for tvOS in its tvOS support document, which is updated after each new version of tvOS comes out.

Apple has also released a new version of the HomePod Software 18.5 for the HomePod and HomePod mini. HomePod software is based on tvOS.

this going to fix the bugs? Have had to retard the ATV a few times lately and I guess assumed it was related to a recent update. I would get some bug related to using HOmepods in conjunction with the ATV ie as tv speakers. Something along the lines of would show it was on Homepod sound but was tv speaker sound. And couldn't get it back without having to restart. MIght even be homepod related.

I had something weird issue too in the recent weeks or the past month or so. But alas off the top of my head can't specifically recall it.

Even after the updates I still have the HomePod speaker issues, bluetooth issues with connecting to my AirPods Max and syncing with an LG OLED. All of these are fixed by rebooting both the AppleTV and the TV, except the headphone issues. For that, I have to keep erasing my Max from my account, then re-adding it via my phone, wait a few minutes and then AppleTV can connect to it. It is seriously annoying.

Have they improved kids profiles and parental controls yet?

Plex does this far better, and that’s free

It seems that Wireless Audio Sync is much improved in terms of fixing audio delay across the board, and curiosly enough, it now plays a Dolby Atmos speaker tone besides the traditional PCM stereo one. For it to work, the IOS device must also be updated to 18.5

If you have already done any audio calibration for any frame rate, its worth a shot to reset the Apple TV video settings (to wipe them completely), and re do them again.

Hopefully they fixed having to turn it off twice because after turning it off the first time it turns everything back on again 30 seconds later.
Something the Amazon Fire Stick never does.

This is usually an issue with your CEC settings on one or more of your devices.
