Apple today released visionOS 1.1, marking the first major update to the visionOS operating system that was launched alongside the Vision Pro in February.

visionOS updates can be installed by going to the Settings app on the Vision Pro, selecting the General section, and choosing Software Update. The Vision Pro headset will need to be removed to install new software, with a progress bar available on the front EyeSight display.

Apple is making several improvements to the Vision Pro with the visionOS update. Mobile Device Management is available for businesses, and Persona and EyeSight look better than before.

The virtual keyboard has been updated to address bugs and make cursor positioning more accurate, and there are also bug fixes for the Mac Virtual Display. Apple's release notes for the update are below.
Mobile Device Management
- Enables account-driven device and user enrollment using Managed Apple IDs
- Support for device configuration (Wi-Fi, VPN, email accounts, single sign-on, and more)
- Support for deploying apps in volume including iPhone and iPad compatible apps, visionOS apps included in a Universal purchase, and proprietary in-house visionOS apps
- Support for remote erase via MDM and device inventory data

Messages
- Adds support for iMessage Contact Key Verification

Accessibility
- Closed captions can be anchored to the playback control while viewing Apple Immersive Video

Persona (beta) and EyeSight
- Adds an option to enroll your Persona hands-free
- Improves hair and makeup appearance
- Improves neck and mouth representation
- Improves rendering of the eyes for EyeSight

Virtual keyboard
- Cursor positioning for text input is now more accurate
- Resolves some instances where the virtual keyboard placement obscures the text input field
- Fixes an issue where in some cases, the text preview on the virtual keyboard may appear out of sync with the text field in the app
- Fixes an issue where the edit menu may appear unexpectedly

Mac Virtual Display
- Improves the reliability of discovering and connecting to a Mac using Mac Virtual Display
- Resolves an issue where Universal Control may stop working
- Addresses a connectivity issue that occurs when a previously paired Bluetooth device cannot be found

Captive Network Support
- Ability to set up your device while using a captive WiFi network such as those found at hotels, cafes and airports

The first year of the Vision Pro will see plenty of feature refinements, so expect quite a few more updates. Apple is also already working on visionOS 2, which will be previewed in June.

The other updates just dropped as well. macOS Sonoma v14.4 and HomePod and Apple TV v17.4 are all downloading as we speak. Didn’t see any mention of that yet on MacRumors.

So excited for this, so many times I go to type in a visionOS app from my mac...and I end up typing things into a random mac app I have open rather than what I'm looking at. The dialog should pop up from control center, and not be stuck to the mac display...

I’m excited to see how VP will develop over time as a result of software updates. VP is an exciting new piece of technology. The original iPhone released in 2007, was far from perfection but has evolved into a device we use daily. I do everything on my iPhone … bills, deposit checks, invest, send and receive faxes, TV, music who would have thought??

Finally! Have been loving it, every single day, but the consistent bugs have been annoying. Especially the wrong Safari tab or two causing the endless reloading till you reboot...Hope this helps!
Found this first time last night. Wow that was crazy

This is both the best hardware I have ever used and the buggiest from Apple. Hopefully this improves things because this thing has been amazing.

Thanks!

Three more months until we see some substantial updates.
I wonder about that, unless you mean iOS AI carrying over to visionOS. I could see them taking a slower approach regarding major changes/additions to visionOS, while they are also busy with rolling out to other regions.

Think they’re referring to any announcements at WWDC in June. I think most are expecting VisionOS 2.0 to be announced then.

Yes, I read it the same way. But as I said, I wonder about that.

Does it fix all the Safari crashes? I’ve had more safari crashes on 1.0.3 Hopefully 1.1 addresses this bug. Also safari needs a bookmark bar at top of the browser window or at least a toggle to display it in settings similar to tabs.

It's much more stable on 1.1 for sure. All around small improvements beyond the release notes.

Agreed. I’ve been testing v1.1 since the second developer beta after hearing some less than great stories about the first v1.1 beta and it feels like this is the OS that should have shipped with the device when it first launched but it is what it is. At some point you’ve got to get the device out there into people’s hands to have them test it and give you real world feedback before you can determine what you need to tackle and in what order. I’m very excited to see what WWDC and v2.0 will contain but have a feeling we may well see a v1.2 of released before we get there. If there’s another developer beta waiting in the wings next week or the week after that’s already at the v.1.2 level this will be an interesting spring in adition to an interesting WWDC and beyond until the public release of v2.0. With that being said I can also see them holding off on another minor version update and putting most development resources outside of bug fixes into v2.0 that will debut at WWDC. Either way we’ve got a lot to look forward to in the next few months.

It's interesting that there's no mention about porting audio from my macbook to the apple vision pro's audio.

i suppose if i really needed privacy i could use my airpod pros, however, audio from the AVP wouldn't port into the airpod pros simultaneously.

there needs to be some audio aggregation.
