Apple today released watchOS 10.6, the sixth update to the watchOS 10 operating system that came out in September. watchOS 10.6 is comes two months after watchOS 10.5, which was another bug fix update.

‌‌watchOS 10‌‌‌.6 can be downloaded for free through the Apple Watch app on an iPhone running iOS 17 or later by opening it up and going to General > Software Update. To install the new software, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery and it needs to be placed on a charger.

The watchOS 10.6 update does not add any new features, and instead focuses on bug fixes and security improvements. It is recommended for all Apple Watches that are able to run watchOS 10.

Seems the final is the same as the RC, which did help with my battery drain on my S7 which also started with the last update.

I've never had an issue with this on any watch I've owned.
That is what I hear from others too.
But it had been happening to my Series 3, 6 and Ultra 2.
Guess it is not a 100% failure rate across everyone.

Perhaps it has to do with the iOS update as well, since they are almost always coming out on the same day.

I'm hoping it fixes the battery drain issues I've been having with my Ultra 2.
its fixed my battery drain with the latest RC, I was back to getting 2 full days out of my AWU1 with 91% capacity. This is with 2...2 hour workouts each day too. watch off the charger from 425am the day before to on the charger at 815pm the next night and 18% battery left, very happy.

Yes please (but with Ultra 1)! I used to be able to get 3 days no problem, but in the last month or so, I’ve only been getting a little over a day and a half with no change in usage. And that‘s with some features disabled.
back to 2 full days on my AWU1, was running the RC for a couple of days, only features I turned off is Hand Off, walkie talkie (never used this) and background app refresh

I hate the fact that you have to keep the watch charging when installing the app. Why can't it be like iOS and iPadOS devices.
I guess the size of the battery will have something to do with it, which is much smaller than that of an iphone or ipad. Keep in mind that if the watch runs out of battery during the update process, you may be left with a big paperweight.

That makes sense. But surly if the watch battery is at 75-100% health it won't drain to 0 before the update is done.

Apple Watch OS updates now stalling on the verification process unable to proceed without actual authorizing on the device itself... (While it’s plugged in on the charger at 100% charge.) Why all the hoops to update a watch both in the app OS on my phone and on the device on the charger (entering pin and clicking to proceed on the watch?) You’d think Apple would have this figured out by now.

Been experiencing inconsistent battery life on my Apple Watch 8 on 10.5, without really any changes to my usage so hopefully this helps!

"watchOS 10‌‌‌‌.6 can be downloaded for free through the Apple Watch app"

In what universe would a minor update for software not be free?
Has Apple ever requested payment for any watchOS update (major, minor or other)?
In that case the "for free" is a bit redundant.

Bug fix? In this case bug creation. Since the update, Siri is misbehaving. When I say “log my weight”, instead of adding my recent weight to Apple health, it launches the Fitness app.

It must think your weight is too much, maybe Apple Intelligence launched early? Haha
