Apple today announced that it has teamed up with Bulgarian fashion designer Kiko Kostadinov to create a limited-edition Beats Pill speaker.

The speaker features a "Kiko gray" finish, and it has a colorful, braided lanyard:
For this collaboration, we looked to the ornate geometry found in ancient iconography, reinterpreting those motifs for the speaker's custom grill. These shapes, rooted in the visual language of Thracian craftsmanship, speak to a history where pattern and meaning were closely intertwined. The speaker is finished in our signature "Kiko gray," a cool, neutral tone that adds a subtle, utilitarian edge. The braided lanyard acts as a subtle talisman—echoing the protective charms and ceremonial threads found in Bulgarian folk tradition, where color and craft carry meaning across generations.
The speaker will be available to purchase on the Kiko Kostadinov website starting this Friday, August 15 at 5 a.m. Eastern Time, and it will also be sold at Kiko Kostadinov stores in Los Angeles and Tokyo. The limited-edition model has the same features and specs as the regular Beats Pill from 2024, and it should have the same $149.99 price.

Apple acquired Beats for $3 billion in 2014.

I have the gold one and I really like it. Not as good sounding as my old Bose Soundlink 2, but more rugged so I can take it camping and such.

Doing my best Apple leaker impression:
“My sources say that Apple to release a Limited Edition Beats Pill”

Funny how this went through all the preparation it went through to get read to come to market and none of the leakers knew anything about it.

What kind of audio experience are people expecting from BT speakers? Casual listening/BGM maybe OK but you need a second unit to increase the sonic scale and dynamic range. Don't expect to be blown into the next galaxy sonically with these wimpy built products. For the same price, you have plenty of other options out there with better sonic reproduction if you care about real audio. But if you have taken your pills and are into Beats products and Apple cool aid brainwashing and are sold this talisman inclusive protecting speaker is the dogs bollox then go ahead.

Sticking with my JBL Flip 4 … best cross of portability, sound, outdoor/water resistant, battery life, and cost

The new design looks ok. Not planning on buying one. Great to see that it is the same price as normal ones. Also don't think it is available in other countries.
