Apple Remote and old Tv

Got the new Apple TV and really like it. I have an older tv and would like the Siri remote to power on/off. Is that possible? It is not CEC. Also, my receiver that is CEC will power off with the Siri remote but can't get it to turn on. Any ideas? Do most people use two remotes with Apple TV? Trying to get down to just using the Siri remote.

My Sony TV from 2010 has "Bravia-link" which is Sonys name for HDMI-CEC, and it doesn't seem to work with my Apple TV. My Yamaha receiver seems to work fine though.
