looks cool. so this new remote requires batteries? did the old one require batteries, because i've been using mine for years and never had any problems plus i dont even know where the battery compartment is on my white one

It's in the bottom, poke a pointy object into the round button and it pops out.

They have the same type of battery. Here is a pic.

If you are looking for an exact reference I just figured out that the remote is the exact same length as the diameter of a cd.
