Apple Remote Deskto - Task Server

I'm looking to deploy multiple softwares and system settings to approximately 100 macs. We currently have one unlimited client license for ARD. I want to plan for the event in which some of the laptops don't make it in on the day that we deploy everything so i was considering a task server. My question is, do i need to purchase an additional ARD license and can i install this on any computer or does it have to be on OS X server?
