Hi,

My mum is a recent Mac convert but is always seeming to need a little bit of assistance for me. Rather than phone her - I have been thinking about getting Apple Remote Desktop 3 and just taking over control of her Mac via the Net (we live several hundred miles away) and helping her out if needed. Is this possible with ARD3 or can you only control Macs on a wired network - can it be done over the internet?

Kind regards,

MadDoc,

I't can!

I't runs realy slow, depending on your service provider, but all you need is for the computers to be somehow connected, or if one has a static IP.

I know there is other ways and I will check for you, I just set up a remote network at school and a task server to run it!

I wouldn't waste the money on ARD if you don't need it. It looks like you just need to enable the VNC server on her computer (Sys Prefs > Sharing > Remote Desktop) and use a VNC client (apparently Chicken of the VNC is quite popular) to connect.
