Good Morning:

I am trying to set up Apple Remote Desktop and control my home computer while I am away, out of my network.

Some information about my two computers:

1. My home computer (the one I want to control remotely)
Computer Name: Mac Pro
OSX Version 10.5.8
ARD Version 3.3.2 (if I need this)
DynDns Updater Version 3.0 (if I need this)
Connected via Ethernet
In the Sharing menu, I do not have an option for “Remote Desktop”, but I have one for “Remote Access” and “Screen Sharing” and I have them both checked.
In the “Remote Access” menu, I have the option checked to allow all users to connect to my computer.

2. My laptop (the one I want to control from)
Computer Name: MacBook Pro
OSX Version 10.6.4
ARD Version 3.3.2
Connected via Wi-fi

3. My modem is an Actiontec MI424WR with port forwarding enabled.

When I connect to my desktop from my laptop within my network, I am successful. ARD sees my computer and will allow me to take control of it with no problem.

When I am outside of my network, I type in my IP address or my DynDns server name, and it sees my home computer and I see the words “Mac Pro” under the name and the proper IP address, but it will not connect. I get an error message: “Connection failed to ‘Mac Pro’”

Can someone please shed some light on this?
