apple remote

I just bought an apple remote. I really like it BUT when I hold down the left button to rewind, it doesn't activate and stay down.

For example, If I'm at the letter T on my movie collection and I want to go to N, I have to keep clicking the left button. If I need to go forward, I can just hold the button down and it works.

Are there any fixes? Is it faulty or is this how its meant to be? :S

Is this for an Apple TV or your MacBook?

macbook (using the application XBMC). forward (right) works fine, backwards (left) is only a single click available.
