Hi,

I've had a large accidental repair quote:

Logic Board Replacement,
Screen Replacement,
Outer Body Replacement,
Under Body Replacement

Which has come to £1200

Will apple negotiate this cost? Due to the price I could as well purchase a slightly less powerful laptop

Thanks,

Max

I've never heard/attempted negotiating, but it can't hurt to try. Worst they'll say is no.

Something to keep in mind though is that with those repairs you are replacing all parts of the laptop other than the battery, so of course it's not cheap. Whether it's simply better to sell it for scraps and buy a new one is up to you.

Dang, that's almost the cost of a new machine..

Can I ask what the specs were for the machine that it's costing so much?

It might as well say Computer Replacement, as those are all the parts. except the charger cable... It doesn't hurt to ask if its at all possible to get some sort of a discount but being that they are replacing the whole computer, it may not be an option

I'm pretty sure the quote are non-negotiable. What can happen is the apple maybe waiving one of the repairs to be cheaper but I highly doubt that. The person quoting that for you would probably ask you to buy a new computer, it isn't worth that much money to repair a computer unless you have a very good reason to.

At 1200 unless it`s a top tier 15" MacBook Pro I would simply write it off and buy a new system. All the same I would also do the rounds the independent Apple specialists and see what they have to offer. Apple are known to undertake repair work with a fixed cost, however what your describing is the best part of the computer.

Ouch, that's expensive, I'd ask to see if there's any movement on the repair, otherwise, just write it off as Queen6 mentioned.
