I set up a Genius appointment to have the battery in my mid-2012 MBP 15" Retina replaced last week. My battery was not lasting more than about 2 1/2 hours and recently just shutdown when the battery percentage hit 38%-40%. I told Genius I fully expected to pay for the replacement since my MBP was five years old. Initial, at the counter, evaluation indicated the battery was ok. I still wanted the full testing of my MBP and my battery replaced. Left it with them last Saturday.

Got a call on Monday that it was ready for pickup.

When the Apple store rep handed me my MBP, she said it was good to go and the battery/top case had been replaced. She added it was a no charge replacement. Why? She just said it was a goodwill type code. I left $199 to the good.

Did not now there was any issues with the MBP battery.

cool, next time if i need my laptop fixed i'll tell them i'll write a awesome thread about them on macrumors if they hook me up :D
