Good news, the replacement came with 4.0.2 and the older baseband. What path should I take to upgrade it to 4.1, keep the old baseband, and be jailbroken? I jailbroke last time with limerain I think, but would prefer using the dev team stuff. And I'm on a mac, fyi.

Cook up a custom restore 4.1 IPSW with Pwnage Tool to save baseband, install it option plus restore in iTunes, Ultrasn0w to unlock.

Don't accidently choose the stock Apple IPSW

Thanks! I'm resynching everything now after making a custom ipsw with pwnagetool. Baseband is still at 1.59.00, just need to load up Cydia to get my hashes in place I guess. Cydia still stores that stuff automatically right?

They still do, once you select "make my life easier". I'd also recommend downloading the latest version of Tiny Umbrella and save all the available SHSH's locally on your machine. Redundancy is good.

IMO its easier (if the phone is new) to just update to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella to preserve baseband and then use greenpois0n or limera1n to jailbreak.
