Hey all,
Quick background:
Xbox 360 in kitchen, on other side of house from our wireless router (BT HomeHub). Signal drops out during online play, so needed a repeater of some description - I decided on the Airport Express
I visited the Apple store today and spoke with an employee regarding the repeater (ie signal boosting) capabilities of the Airport Express, and he mentioned nothing regarding the need to already have an Airport Extreme. Essentially, despite the theoretical possibility of Wireless Distribution System (repeating, basically) between Apple and non Apple hardware, it really won't work. I'm familiar with networks, and Apple gear in general, and have nothing after 8 hours of work at it.
It's going to need returned, and to be honest, I'm not happy to pay a restocking fee, which I assume (correctly?) they'll want to charge me. The employee made no mention of it beforehand, and the website doesn't say anything about it.
Apologies for the length of post; always best to be clear
andy.
