Read the retailer's policies, silly goose. In 99.99% of cases, yes, you can.
You should be able to recover your money, upgrade if you used it, everything.

If it's a straight replacement and you're not trying to get a different color or capacity, yes, Apple can do it. Bear in mind that doesn't mean they will.
