Just moments after announcing that WWDC 2021 will be held digitally from June 7-11, Apple has updated its Developer app across the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, making it easier to discover content such as articles, videos, and WWDC content.

"We've made improvements to the look and feel of the Developer app across iPhone, iPad, and Mac to help you enjoy articles, videos, news and announcements, and past WWDC content," said Apple. "You can browse content more easily on iPad with a new sidebar (iPadOS 14 or later), enjoy fullscreen video content on larger Mac displays, and discover content to watch and read using the new Search area."

The release notes for the iPhone and iPad app:
• Explore a new Discover tab experience on iOS 14 with improved support for larger displays.
• Navigate content using the new sidebar on iPadOS 14.
• We've improved the Search tab on iOS 14, making it easier to find the content you want to watch.
• We've extended login session duration.
• We've fixed bugs and added various other enhancements.
The Apple Developer app will be central to the digital WWDC 2021 experience.

"We've extended login session duration."

This means 'Our roadmap is packed with so much products, software and services, you'll need extra session time to be able to include that'. 😜

Just updated on macOS 10.15.7 and the app doesn't launch anymore...

I hope fonts are a little bit bigger, there's less whitespace and it feels more native.
It just felt like a web view...

Specific updates requiring iOS 14 coming now, 9 months later, just 3 short of iOS 15 debut. I'd like to think Apple would update the developer app in line with the latest iOS on time, but no.

I just updated the Developer app on my 2014 Mac mini (Intel) running macOS Big Sur 11.2.3. The app opened fine and I now see a "Glow and behold" splash screen.

I think that icon look this gave us a hit that will be seeing a icon overall in iOS 15

Don't use it, don't care. And I am a full time developer. The app sucks, at least the last time I tried it last year, and I have better things to do than waste my time with it.

Like most recent Apple Apps, it too much show and not enough functionality.
