Did some digging today and holy hell - no wonder my Apple Music on CarPlay sounds like garbage compared to my mate’s car, where he just plays songs off a USB stick.

Turns out Apple compresses every single Apple Music song down to AAC 256kbps. Every. Single. One.

Who at Apple thought it was a good idea to roll out Lossless… and then deliberately make CarPlay incompatible with it? Years of hyped-up “lossless magic” wasted because your car literally can’t play it properly.

Wireless CarPlay, sure - I get it, Bluetooth can’t handle true lossless. But wired CarPlay? It’s literally connected via USB. Your downloaded ALAC files are already perfect. Yet Apple chooses to unnecessarily compress them. Unbelievable.

And the kicker? This is every iPhone, every car, every CarPlay streaming app. No exceptions.

I’ve been a loyal Apple Music user, sticking with it over Spotify for lossless. Turns out, I’ve been paying for a promise they never delivered in my car. Wow.. Just… wow.
