Apple today seeded the first betas of upcoming iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming just two days after Apple released iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4.

iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 can be downloaded from the Settings app on a compatible device by going to General > Software Update.

We don't yet know what Apple is introducing in the iOS 18.5 update, but we are still waiting on new Siri Apple Intelligence features. That functionality may not be coming until next year, though, so it's unclear if we'll get any new Apple Intelligence tools in the beta.

Once we download the beta and discover that's included, we'll update this article with details.

I've given up on this year's round of software. I think Apple has as well and all real efforts have turned to the next release. Won't be getting on the beta bandwagon again till Sept at the earliest, if ever given Apple's waning ability to release stuff that doesn't do more damage than good.

rcs on vodafone uk? 😂😂😂
TBH at this point I've given up on Vodafone every enable rcs support lol

I don’t expect much outward facing changes at this point. With them pushing true Apple intelligence back further, 18.5 and .6 will most likely be a bunch for security and stability changes as work has probably fully transitioned to 19 for features and notable changes

Allegedly Three now support it as a main carrier but still no sign of it on Smarty as a Three MVNO, although to be fair they only just added support for texting short codes in the last couple of weeks. 🤦‍♂️

Yes three support RCS, even PAYG. You also get IPv6 and eSIM support on three PAYG vs SMARTY.

To anyone on 18.5, Any sign of RCS encryption ?

I’m on the same boat as you boat as you mate I think I’ve given up waiting for them to enable it
It will probably happen when the merger with three actually goes through

Yes was thinking the same.

When I’ve asked on X just get some copy n paste response about need to make network changes for it to work but when ask they just say can’t say basically which I find rather infuriating!

I suspect it is that
Because now in my area I get 5g from Vodafone in my area but according to the website it’s not available
Yet if your on three you have had access to 5g for the last couple of years
