Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming macOS Sequoia 15.5 update to developers for testing purposes, with the software coming two days after Apple released macOS Sequoia 15.4.

Registered developers can opt-in to the macOS Sequoia beta through the Software Update section of the System Settings app. An Apple ID associated with an Apple Developer account is required to get the beta.

We don't yet know what's included in the macOS 15.5 update, but we are waiting on new Apple Intelligence features. It's not clear if that functionality will be in the beta, but there isn't much else that Apple hasn't added to macOS Sequoia.

Apple will soon start transitioning to macOS 16, which is set to be unveiled at WWDC in June.

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple today previewed macOS Sequoia 15.5, the next version of the world’s most advanced desktop operating system, promising empty new ways of working and transformative intelligence features to Mac. macOS Sequoia 15.5 promises exciting new vaporware, including Apple Intelligence features, which won't arrive until macOS 17.2. Safari gets even snappier with the new ability to not feature Apple Intelligence for effortless browsing without annoying broken features.

That Sequoia image you’re using makes it look more like macOS Silent Hill.
Sounds about right....

...follows various characters drawn to the town, where they encounter horrifying creatures, psychological torment, and mysteries tied to their own pasts.

town: Cupertino
encounter horrifying creatures: Vision Pro V1 Avatars
psychological torment: suffering through missing/broken feaures
mysteries tied to their own pasts: How "it just works" is now just a past mystery

As long as Apple provides measly base storage and outrageous upgrade costs, then it does matter that you can’t delete the AI files which exist even with the feature turned off.
I thought they eventually get deleted if the AI turned off.

I am a buit surprised that a new version is being released so soon after the last one. Maybe, I should wait for six months before updating and see if another 5 or so updates come out, do them all at the same time

Anyone running Sequoia on the base M1 MacBook Air? Any issues?
I installed Sequoia on my Mom's M1 Macbook Air, and my brother's, as soon as 15.0 was released, and they haven't reported any issues to me. Sometimes I'll use their Macbooks to install the subsequent macOS updates, or to install other software for them, or to help them figure out how to do various things, and during those brief intervals, I haven't seen any issues, but those tasks don't involve doing much heavy lifting, prolonged app testing, etc.

Can someone inform if the firmware is modified? 15.4 no longer works with my Sonnet eGPU (it freezes when plugged in, or while booting up the computer). Running a 2018 Intel Mac mini.

Good. The new OS has a new bug.

I use custom desktop colors and when I try to select one, it only gives me white.

Now happens on all my Macs.

On Sequoia 15.4, YouTube on Brave browser with Proton VPN did not work. On Sequoia 15.5 beta 1, it's working again.
