Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming tvOS 14 software update to its public beta testing group, allowing non-developers to try the software ahead of its fall public release.

Public beta testers can download the new update by opening up the Settings app on the Apple TV, navigating to the Software Updates section under "System" and then toggling on "Get Public Beta Updates" after signing up to beta test on Apple's public beta website.

tvOS 14 brings a new Picture in Picture mode so you can watch TV, movies, and videos while using other apps. You can even AirPlay to a Picture in Picture window.

Multiuser gaming support for Apple Arcade lets each tvOS user keep track of game levels, leaderboards, and invitations, and there's now support for the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controller.

A new Home section in Control Center on the Apple TV provides a way for you to control your HomeKit-connected products right on your TV, plus there's an option to view HomeKit camera feeds on the big screen.

You can pick your favorite screensaver family to play rather than having to rely on random choice, and there's now an option to watch YouTube videos in 4K on the 4K Apple TV.

If you are already on the program you have to turn it off on the Apple TV and then back on and the new update will appear....

Does anyone from the developer beta knowing YouTube 4K is in these betas?

I am wondering about that too. I have a feeling that we won't see it until the final release in the fall. I think I read somewhere that app developers can't release tvOS or iOS 14 specific updates until then. I could be wrong though

I know Youtube videos can now be viewed in 4k with the 14 update. Is this currently active in the beta?

NM...the latest Macrumors post confirms Youtube needs to do something to enable it...

"Speaking of YouTube, the YouTube app in ‌tvOS 14‌ will support 4K video streaming for the first time, allowing for higher-resolution content to be viewed. YouTube presumably needs to implement support, so the feature isn't functional as of yet. The ‌Apple TV‌ also supports sharing and viewing 4K videos taken with the iPhone. "

The only reason I’m downloading this is for AirPods audio sharing! Exciting!

Im not getting the option, I was able to download the profile ob my iPhone but cant get the tv enrolled
Go to Settings and open it from settings scroll down to SYSTEM and click it, when you are in SYSTEM if you scroll down to SOFTWARE UPDATES open that and Click UPDATE SOFTWARE you have to turn it off on the Apple TV and then back on and the new update will ask you GET BETA UPDATES and from there just follow the instructions, you may have to turn it off and on again to agree

Anyone else seeing their tv listed twice under their Apple ID in the iPhone or iPad settings?
I am. Not on iCloud.com. But, on my iPhone and iPad.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this. Since getting on the public beta of TVOS 14, out Disney+ app is messing up.

Specifically it freezes up when going to the wishlist. Have to force quit out. App works otherwise as long as you don’t go to wishlist. Anyone else having an issue?

So, I’m enrolled but I still don’t see the beta option in software updates.

I’ve tried rebooting, and checked that I’m logged in.

any suggestions?

Edit: I see it for one of my AppleTV’s but it’s not the one I want to update. the one I want to update still does not show the option.

My HomeKit Cameras and Scenes won't work in this Beta. Do I need to install Beta software on other devices besides my Apple TV to get that to work? I only have the Beta software on one Apple TV 4K. None of my other Apple devices are on Beta software—HomePod, iPhone, iMac, iPad.

I’ve downloaded the beta but have no HomeKit app or access to HomeKit in the control centre? Is this limited to Apple TV4K only?
