Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming tvOS 16.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the beta coming one day after the launch of tvOS 16.1, an update that added support for Matter, iCloud Shared Photo Library, and more.

Developers can download the tvOS 16.2 beta by downloading a profile onto the Apple TV using Xcode.

tvOS updates are often minor in scale, focusing on internal bug fixes and improvements rather than notable outward-facing changes. There is no word as of yet what's included in the tvOS 16.2 update, but we'll update this article if we find anything new.

Apple shares some information on tvOS releases in its tvOS support document, which is updated after each tvOS launch.

Though we don't often know what's new in tvOS during the beta testing process, we let MacRumors readers know when new updates are available so those who are developers can download it upon release.

Any sign of the new HomeKit architecture? I'm guessing this is something they're not even going to beta test.

Just fix the library tab for large libraries on Apple’s own hardware.

The content loads fine on non-Apple hardware and inside of the Moves and TV Shows “purchased” tabs. So the working code exists. Just put it in the AppleTV app.

Dolby Atmos still bad from ATV to AirPods Max, volume keeps going up and down. don't know if it is the ATV or my AirPods Max but its annoying as hell, audio works great when I turn of DD.

Don't know if this helps or not, but I have no volume issues with my AirPod Pros. Can you reset or repair the AP Max?

tried resetting them and my Tv to, No dice! the strange thing is that DD ON my iPhone 12 mini works great with the AirPods max and my wife's AirPods Pro pared with the tv works great with DD, so I don't understand it😵‍💫

I've never taken much notice of ATV betas, but this one's interesting due to the Home app/Matter upgrade. What's the normal delay between Dev betas and public ones?

Is there anything more confusing than:

Upgrading your home requires that all HomePod speakers in your Home or associated with your iCloud account are updated to tvOS 16.2 or later.

Our HomePods are supposed to get tvOS software?

I've just tried to update my two Apple TVs to 16.2 after installing the dev profile. Both say 16.2 is available and go on to fully download it, but then once downloaded the status changes to 'Waiting for the update server..." and it just hangs there. Anyone else seeing this?

Apple put out a statement, saying if that happens to simply turn on volume normalization, for what it’s worth. My AirPod Pro 2’s also do that.
