Apple today seeded the first beta of an upcoming watchOS 4.2 update to developers, more than a month after releasing the new watchOS 4 operating system to the public and while watchOS 4.1, the first major update to watchOS 4, is still in testing.

Once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Apple Developer Center, the new watchOS 4.2 beta can be downloaded through the dedicated Apple Watch app on the iPhone by going to General -> Software update.

To install the update, the Apple Watch needs to have at least 50 percent battery, it must be placed on the charger, and it has to be in range of the iPhone.

It's not yet clear what new features watchOS 4.2 will introduce, but it could bring support for Apple Pay Cash, Apple's new peer-to-peer payments feature. We'll know more about what's included in the update once developers are able to download the software and dig into the new features.

I'm patiently waiting for 4.1... I am very happy to see that they are pushing these updates regularly, gives me hope as I feel like 11 has been a buggy release.

When checking for watchOS updates, says I’m up to date. (I even reinstalled the watchOS beta profile and rebooted watch) :(
[doublepost=1509385927][/doublepost]Same here keeps showing that I'm up to date please help

Which watch face is shown in the pictures here? I like it but haven't seen it among my options last time I looked (it's been awhile...) Thanks!

Apple Dev site lists watchOS 4.2 beta as, "Coming Soon." Wonder if that means there was a problem and pulled the beta, or it is really just "coming soon."

watchOS reminds me of the very early days of OS X and iPhone OS. Many limitations early on, some due to lack of maturity, others due to hardware capability. They were addressed over time, growing into very robust platforms, now macOS and iOS.

I am really impressed with my Series 3 LTE and can’t wait to get 4.1 update. Sounds like more goodness ahead, exciting times!

It's known as the Explorer Watch Face. Exclusive to the Series 3 LTE model.

And the only watch face that offers cellular connectivity dots as a complication. I hope include that in other Watch faces without having to swap out one of the complications to get it.

So if you have the beta profile installed on 4.1, check for updates if finds 4.2 then remove the profile, and then the software updater STILL SEE 4.2! WITHOUT THE PROFILE INSTALLED ANY MORE. Clearly this is a bug!!

The beta file is either on the phone or watch.

Look under general iPhone storage on iPhone and see if the beta file is there.
No profile on either watch or phone. Restarted (

Not there. I had the beta profile for the phone and watch installed, but with the impending release of iPhone X, I opted not to move to 11.2 or 4.2. Removed the profile from both the watch and the phone and restarted both. The beta software had already downloaded to phone, so I went to General->iphone storage->system (because it was at the top) and I was able to delete the downloaded beta software. Rebooted phone and no beta software YAY!. Different story on watch. Profile was removed and rebooted prior to download of the beta, but it shows up. Unlike the phone, there is nowhere to delete the downloaded software.

I just unpaired, re-paired, and in the process of restoring.
